Basque Country Autonomous Basketball Team
The Basque Country autonomous basketball team is the basketball team of the Basque Country. The team is not affiliated to FIBA, so only plays friendly games. History Basque Country played the Torneo de las Naciones, a tournament co-organized with Galicia and Catalonia. It was played from 2008 to 2010 and basques won the 2008 and 2009 editions. In summer 2011, Basque Country, coached by Pablo Laso, played three games at Argentina. One against the 'B' team of, other with a team of players of Córdoba and a third game with the Argentina national basketball team. In this last game, where Argentina played with the team of the FIBA Americas Championship won Basque Country by a huge 92–28. In 2012 the team, coached again by Laso, played two games against Senegal. Basque Country won the first game by 86–74 and lost the second one by 66–82. Pablo Laso
Pablo Laso Biurrun (born October 13, 1967) is a Spanish professional basketball coach and former player. He was the head coach of Real Madrid for eleven seasons from 2011 to 2022, guiding them to two EuroLeague championships and six Liga ACB titles. As a player, he was a prominent point guard in Spain and Italy. Professional playing career Club career Laso played 17,378 minutes (4th most) in 624 games (9th most) in the Liga ACB (the top-tier level Spanish League). Fundación Lucentum Baloncesto Alicante, also known as HLA Alicante for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball team based in Alicante, Valencian Community. History The club was founded on 17 June 2015 with the aim to save the basketball in the city after the financial problems of the main club CB Lucentum. Pavelló Girona-Fontajau is an indoor arena in Girona, Catalonia, northern Spain, that holds 5,500 people. It is primarily used for basketball and is the home arena of Uni Girona CB and Bàsquet Girona. The building was designed in 1993 by the architects Esteve Bonell and Josep M. Gil and was opened on September 4, 1993. It is structured in two levels, one for the public (the high level) and another, of which use is restricted to the sportsmen (the low level), with differentiated entries. Apart from basketball, it is used also for other sports like Indoor motorcycle trials and tennis matches. Pau Ribas Tossas (born 2 March 1987) is a Spanish professional basketball player for Joventut Badalona of the Spanish Liga ACB. Standing at , he primarily plays the shooting guard position. Javier Salgado Martín, more commonly known as Javi Salgado, is a retired Spanish professional basketball player. Early career After being formed at Maristas school in Bilbao, Salgado started his career at SD Patronato in 1998. The next year, he signed with Baloncesto León, to play in the club's reserve team (Elmar León), in the Liga EBA, in that time the Spanish third division.
