Basketball At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Women's Tournament
The 2020 Summer Olympics women's basketball tournament in Tokyo, began on 26 July and ended on 8 August 2021. All games were played at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. It was originally scheduled to be held in 2020, but on 24 March 2020, the Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of this pandemic, the games were played behind closed doors. The United States won the title for the ninth overall and seventh consecutive time by defeating Japan in the final, while France secured the bronze medal with a win over Serbia. The medals for the competition were presented by Samira Asghari, IOC Member, Afghanistan, and the medalists' bouquets were presented by Andreas Zagklis, Secretary General of FIBA, Greece. The Louisville Cardinals women's basketball team represents the University of Louisville in women's basketball. The school competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Cardinals play home basketball games at KFC Yum! Thomas Wayne Hovasse (born January 31, 1967) is an American basketball coach and former player. After growing up in Security, Colorado, he played college basketball at Penn State. After not being selected in the 1989 NBA draft, he played professional basketball from 1989 to 2001, including a brief stint with the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association during the 1994–95 season and 10 seasons for teams in Japan. Lucas Mondelo García (born 28 July 1967) is a Spanish basketball coach for Toyota Antelopes and the Spain women's national team. Coach career As a club coach, Mondelo first coached professionally at Club Bàsquet Olesa from Olesa de Montserrat in the season 2006-07, promoting to the first tier league in his first year.
