Basem Eltahhan
Basem Abdullah Eltahhan (born 17 August 1982 in Alexandria, Egypt) is an Egyptian former professional snooker player. Eltahhan turned professional in 2017 winning the African Championship. Career In 2017, Eltahhan beat fellow countryman Wael Talaat 6–5 in the final of the African Championship. The win gained him a two-year card on the World Snooker Tour for the 2017–18 and 2018–19 seasons. Due to lack of sponsorship Eltahhan couldn't make his professional debut until the 2017 English Open. His only match win during the season came at the single-frame Shoot-Out event, although he impressed at the 2017 UK Championship, battling world number 1 Mark Selby before ultimately losing 4–6; Selby praised his opponent afterwards, saying that Eltahhan played like a top-32 player. The Scottish Open is a ranking professional snooker tournament held in the United Kingdom. The tournament had many name changes in its history, as the tournament was formerly called International Open, Matchroom Trophy and Players Championship. Apart from a hiatus in the 1990/1991 and 1991/1992 seasons, the tournament remained a ranking event until 2003/2004. 2018 UK Championship
The 2018 UK Championship (also known as the 2018 Betway UK Championship for sponsorship reasons) was a professional ranking snooker tournament, that took place from 27 November to 9 December 2018. It was the ninth ranking tournament and the first Triple Crown event of the 2018/2019 season. The event was broadcast on BBC Sport and Eurosport in the United Kingdom. Ronnie O'Sullivan, the defending champion, defeated Mark Allen 10–6 in the final, winning his 7th UK Championship and his 34th ranking event overall. In doing so, he became the first player since Stephen Hendry in 1996 to successfully defend the UK title. The UK Championship is a professional ranking snooker tournament. It is one of snooker's prestigious Triple Crown events, along with the World Championship and the Masters. The 2017 Northern Ireland Open (officially the 2017 Dafabet Northern Ireland Open) was a professional ranking snooker tournament that took place between 20 and 26 November 2017 in the Waterfront Hall in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was the tenth Snooker world rankings, ranking event of the Snooker season 2017/2018, 2017/2018 season and a part of the Home Nations Series. The European Masters is a professional ranking snooker tournament that has been staged periodically since 1989 as the European Open. Between 2005 and 2008 it was known as the Malta Cup and was the sole ranking tournament in Europe outside the British Isles, before being discontinued.
