Bartlett High School is a high school ( grades 9-12) located in Bartlett, Tennessee. It is part of the Bartlett City Schools. It was formerly operated by the Shelby County Schools system. Bartlett has two campuses, the main campus and the Ninth Grade Academy which is located at the former Shadowlawn Middle School campus on Shadowlawn Rd. Formerly known as Nicholas Blackwell High School, BHS is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the NASSP, TSSAASACAC and NACAC. The school was built in 1917. It opened with 100 students and seven faculty members. The first Principal was Miss Dora Gholson. All Bartlett public schools separated from Shelby County Schools to form a municipal school system in 2014. Bartlett High School is the largest high school in Tennessee, with a combined 9-12 student body of about 2,777 (2020-21). Bartlett's school colors are red, white, and blue. Bartlett City Schools is a municipal school district serving Bartlett, Tennessee, United States. Location In February 2014, the school district moved its headquarters from Bartlett City Hall into the former special education offices at Bartlett High School. In December 2018 they moved into their current location at 5705 Stage Road. History Following the merger of Memphis City Schools and Shelby County Schools in 2013, a referendum was put forth to the residents of Bartlett to form their own school district. In July 2013, the residents of Bartlett approved the referendum and Bartlett City Schools was created. Daniel Paul Wright (born April 3, 1991) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Angels. Jacob Clinton Wilson (born July 29, 1990) is an American former professional baseball utility player. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Oakland Athletics and Houston Astros, and in the KBO League for the Lotte Giants. Hubie Smith
Arthur Hubert "Hubie" Smith is a basketball coach in Tennessee. He has coached at three colleges as well as boys and girls at three high schools, winning seven state championships: two with girls and 5 with boys. Player Smith played high school basketball for Harding Academy in Memphis from 1976 to 1979. He ranks 4th all time in the state of Tennessee for career free throw percentage at 86.3%. Eric McGill (born December 22, 1996) is an American professional basketball player for APOEL of the Cyprus Basketball Division A. He played college basketball for Southeast Missouri State, Panola College, and Southern Illinois. High school career McGill grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and attended Bartlett High School. Garrett Hines
Garrett Hines (born July 3, 1969) is an American bobsledder who has competed from the late 1990s to the early 2000s. Competing in two Winter Olympics, he won the silver medal in the four-man event at Salt Lake City in 2002. Hines also won a silver medal in the four-man event at the 2003 FIBT World Championships in Lake Placid, New York. Prior to his bobsleigh career, Hines also was involved in track and field as a decathlete. Additionally he played American football in high school. The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA), along with the affiliated Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association (TMSAA), is an organization which administers junior and senior high school sporting events in Tennessee.
