Barrys Reef, Victoria
Barrys Reef (previously known as Bayup and then Barry's Reef) is a town near Blackwood in Australia. The population of the town is 39. The local story of the origin of Barrys Reef refers to a man who was exiled from the town of Blackwood (his name was Cocko) after a drunken brawl so he started walking to find a suitable place to live. After an hour of walking northwards away from Blackwood, the man (Barry Francis) found gold in the area and set up camp eventually building a house. Later on in the gold rush days Barry's Reef grew in size and at one stage had six hotels. After the gold rush the town eventually started to dwindle in population and was usually mistaken for North Blackwood. Nowadays the local people usually use the towns name as an excuse for not living in Blackwood or Trentham. Electoral District Of Macedon
The electoral district of Macedon is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It was created in 2002, replacing the abolished electorate of Gisborne. It was won at that election by Joanne Duncan, the former member for Gisborne. She was re-elected in 2006 and 2010, and retired at the 2014 election, at which she was succeeded by Labor candidate Mary-Anne Thomas. The Division of Hawke is an Australian electoral division in the state of Victoria, which was contested for the first time at the 2022 Australian federal election. The electorate is centred on the localities of Bacchus Marsh, Ballan, Melton and Sunbury to the west and north-west of Melbourne. Bacchus Marsh (Wathawurrung: ''Pullerbopulloke'') is an urban centre and suburban locality in Victoria, Australia located approximately north west of the state capital Melbourne and west of Melton at a near equidistance to the major cities of Melbourne, Ballarat and Geelong. The population of the Bacchus Marsh urban area was 22,223 at June 2018. Bacchus Marsh is the largest urban area in the local government area of Shire of Moorabool. Trentham, Victoria
Trentham is a small town in the Shire of Hepburn and Shire of Moorabool local government area, Victoria, Australia. At the , Trentham had a population of 1,180, with a median age of 55 years. Located at an altitude of , the town is north-west of Melbourne. History Although pastoral runs were taken up in the area as early as 1838, Trentham was first settled by gold prospectors in the 1850s, and later developed for its timber resources from the surrounding Wombat State Forest. The Post Office opened on 16 July 1862. The railway arrived in 1880. At its peak, it carried up to 21,000 tonnes of freight annually, mostly timber. Two timber tramways once ran to the station from the surrounding forests and, in the early 20th century, there was a timber mill adjoining the station yard. In the 1950s, as better roads were built to connect the town with the major settlements of Victoria, and the railway was closed in 1978.
