Barry M. McCoy
Barry Malcolm McCoy (born 14 December 1940 in Trenton, New Jersey) is an American physicist, known for his contributions to classical statistical mechanics, integrable models and conformal field theories. He earned a B.Sc. from California Institute of Technology (1963), and a Ph.D. from Harvard University (1967), the thesis entitled ''Spin Correlations of the Two Dimensional Ising Model'' advised by Tai Tsun Wu. The two of them also wrote the book ''The Two Dimensional Ising Model'' (Harvard University Press, 1973). He then joined the institute for theoretical physics at State University of New York at Stony Brook (1967). where he has since been, now as a distinguished professor. McCoy was visiting at Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences in Kyoto several times (first in 1980), the Institute Henri Poincaré and the Australian National University. Craig Arnold Tracy (born September 9, 1945) is an American mathematician, known for his contributions to mathematical physics and probability theory. Born in United Kingdom, he moved as infant to Missouri where he grew up and obtained a B.Sc. in physics from University of Missouri (1967). Anne Schilling
Anne Schilling is an American mathematician specializing in algebraic combinatorics, representation theory, and mathematical physics. She is a professor of mathematics at the University of California, Davis. Education Schilling completed her Ph.D. in 1997 at Stony Brook University. Rinat Kedem (born 5 December 1965) is an American mathematician and mathematical physicist. Kedem graduated in 1988 with BA in physics from Macalester College. She received her PhD in physics in 1993 from Stony Brook University (the State University of New York at Stony Brook) with thesis advisor Barry M. McCoy. She was a postdoc from 1993 to 1995 at Kyoto University's Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences (RIMS), from 1995 to 1996 at the University of Melbourne, and from 1996 to 1997 at the University of California, Berkeley. The Ising model () (or Lenz-Ising model or Ising-Lenz model), named after the physicists Ernst Ising and Wilhelm Lenz, is a mathematical model of ferromagnetism in statistical mechanics. The model consists of discrete variables that represent magnetic dipole moments of atomic "spins" that can be in one of two states (+1 or −1). The spins are arranged in a graph, usually a lattice (where the local structure repeats periodically in all directions), allowing each spin to interact with its neighbors.
