Baro Tumsa
Baro Tumsa (1938–1978) was a pharmacist, lawyer and Oromo nationalist and political activist in Ethiopia. He was the younger brother of Reverend Gudina Tumsa and mainly responsible for the formation of the Oromo Liberation Front.Encyclopaedia Aethiopica: A-C (pg 483) Early life Baro Tumsa was born in 1938 at Bodji Karkaro/Bila in the Wallaga Zome of Oromia. His father, Tumsa Silga, and his mother, Nasise Chiracho, died while he was very young and so he was raised by his elder brother, Gudina Tumsa. He had one sister, Rahel, and two brothers, Gudina and Nagassa. Education and political activism Education Tumsa completed primary education and part of his secondary education in the town of Nekemte, Wallaga, and later in Bishoftu, East Shewa. Harerge
Hararghe ( am, ሐረርጌ ''Harärge''; Harari: ሀረርጌይ ''Harärgeyi'', Oromo: Harargee, so, Xararge) was a province of eastern Ethiopia with its capital in Harar. History Hararghe translates to "land of the Hararis". The region consisted mostly of the territory of the Emirate of Harar annexed by Menelik II in 1887. Including Ethiopia's part of the Ogaden, Haraghe was bounded on west by Shewa, northwest by Wollo Province, northeast by French Somaliland and Somaliland, and on the east by Somalia. Originally however Hararghe included the Sidamo, Bale and Arsi Province until Haile Selassie split the provinces. Hararghe was the historical homeland of the Harla people. Hararghe was altered as a result of Proclamation 1943/1, which created twelve ''taklai ghizat''s from the existing 42 provinces of varying sizes. Echat
''Echat'' (Amharic: ኢጭአት, acronym for የኢትዮጵያ ጭቁኖች አብዮታዊ ትግል, 'Ethiopian Oppressed People's Revolutionary Struggle') was a communist organization in Ethiopia.Clapham Christopher. Oromo Liberation Front
The Oromo Liberation Front ( om, Adda Bilisummaa Oromoo, abbreviated: ABO; English abbreviation: OLF) is an Oromo nationalist political party formed in 1973 to promote self-determination for the Oromo people inhabiting today's Oromia Region and Oromia Zone in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Addis Ababa University (AAU) ( am, አዲስ አበባ ዩኒቨርሲቲ) is a national university located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It is the oldest university in Ethiopia. AAU has thirteen campuses.
