Barnham, West Sussex
Barnham is a semi-rural village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Barnham and Eastergate, in the Arun district of West Sussex, England, centred about five miles (8 km) north of Bognor Regis. On 1 April 2019 the parish was merged with Eastergate to form "Barnham and Eastergate". History Barnham is listed in the Domesday Book of 1086 as having a mill, a church and 24 households, and woodland, plough land and meadows. It retains some of its rich agricultural history, having had very little woodland for many centuries, and gently rolling cereal fields and pasture instead. Gatwick Airport Railway Station
Gatwick Airport railway station is on the Brighton Main Line in West Sussex, England. It serves Gatwick Airport, down the line from via . The platforms are about to the east of the airport's South Terminal, with the ticket office above the platforms and station entrances and exits directly connected to the terminal. The station is also connected to the airport's North Terminal by the Airport Shuttle people-mover. Gatwick Airport was the busiest station in South East England from 2017 to 2018. Clapham Junction Rail Crash
The Clapham Junction railway crash occurred on the morning of 12 December 1988, when a crowded British Rail passenger train crashed into the rear of another train that had stopped at a signal just south of Clapham Junction railway station in London, England, and subsequently sideswiped an empty train travelling in the opposite direction. A total of 35 people died in the collision, while 484 were injured. The collision was the result of a signal failure caused by a wiring fault. New wiring had been installed, but the old wiring had been left in place and not adequately secured. An independent inquiry chaired by Anthony Hidden, QC found that the signalling technician responsible had not been told that his working practices were wrong, and his work had not been inspected by an independent person. Bristol Temple Meads is the oldest and largest railway station in Bristol, England. It is located away from London Paddington. Arun Valley Line
The Arun Valley line, also known as the Mid Sussex line, is part of the Southern- and Thameslink-operated railway services. For the initial part of the route trains follow the Brighton Main Line, and at a junction south of Three Bridges the route turns westwards. It then runs via Crawley, Horsham (where there is a junction with the Portsmouth Line) and Arundel, before meeting the West Coastway line at ''Arundel Junction''.
