Barisal Divisional Stadium
Barisal Divisional Stadium (also known as Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabad Stadium) is a multi-purpose stadium, multi-purpose, district stadium in Barisal, Bangladesh. It is currently used mostly for association football, football and cricket matches. The stadium can hold up to 30,000 people. District and national level cricket and football games are usually organized here. It currently has an area of 29.15 acres, making it the largest stadium in Bangladesh by size. History In 1966, a facility called 'Barisal District Stadium' was started on Band Road in Barishal City Corporation, Barisal city for organizing sports events. Barisal
Barisal ( or ; bn, বরিশাল, ), officially known as Barishal, is a major city that lies on the banks of the Kirtankhola river in south-central Bangladesh. It is the largest city and the administrative headquarter of both Barisal District and Barisal Division. It is one of the oldest municipalities and river ports of the country. Barisal municipality was established in the year 1876 during the British rule in India and upgraded to City Corporation on 25 July 2002. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team represents the nation of Bangladesh in cricket at Under-19 level. Barisal City Corporation is a self-governed municipal administration in Bangladesh that administers and oversees development and maintenance works in the city of Barisal. The corporation covers an area of over 58 square kilometers in the Barisal district where over five million people live as permanent residents. The body was known as Barisal Municipality previously, until it obtained the City Corporation status by a ministry of local government declaration on 25 July 2002.
