Barcelona Metro Line VI
The line VI of the Barcelona Metro network was an ambitious 1965 project for a proposed underground railway line in the city of Barcelona. The line would have stretched from the Zona Franca towards Plaça de Francesc Macià (then known as Calvo Sotelo), and from there into Travessera de Gràcia, Glòries, the Besòs River area, northern Badalona, and Montigalà in Santa Coloma de Gramenet. This very costly project was progressively abandoned: first, in 1984, by shortening the line. Later, in 1996, a new plan was devised for the city's public transport infrastructures. In 2001 yet another plan (PDI) was put forward, discarding the line, and proposing other transport projects instead. The different projects devised by Francoist Spain during the 1960s were very ambitious. Plaça de Francesc Macià was in contemporaneous plans an important transport hub with other (later discontinued) projected metro lines. Barcelona Metro
The Barcelona Metro (Catalan and Spanish: ) is an extensive network of rapid transit electrified railway lines that run mostly underground in central Barcelona and into the city's suburbs. It is part of the larger public transport system of Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, Spain, with unified fares under the (ATM) scheme. As of 2014, the network is operated by two separate companies: (TMB) and (FGC). It is made up of 12 lines, combining the lines owned by the two companies. Two lines, L9 and L10, are being built at present, with both lines having different sections of each opened between 2009 and 2018. They are due to be fully completed in 2026. Santa Coloma de Gramenet () informally simply known as Santa Coloma (in Spanish: Santa Coloma de Gramanet, historically also known as ''Gramenet de Besòs'') is a municipality in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated on the south-east side of the Litoral range, with the Puig Castellar (299 m) as its highest point, on the left bank of the Besòs river: the municipalities of Sant Adrià de Besòs and Badalona separate it from the coast. It's the ninth most populated city in Catalonia. The area has been inhabited since at least the Iberic period, and the remains of an Iberic village have been found on Puig Castellar. Barcelona Metro Line 10
Line 10 (Polígon Pratenc – Gorg) is the name of one of the two branches of the Barcelona metro line 9, currently (2020) under construction and to be operated by TMB. Like Line 9 and Line 11, it will be an automatic train operation (i.e. driverless vehicle) metro line. Overview The line will link the Zona Franca with Badalona, through Barcelona proper, sharing most of the area covered by L9. L9/10 will be the deepest and longest line in the network. Originally expected to be ready by 2008, ongoing problems with its construction are going to delay its completion until as late as 2025. The line is currently operated in two sections, North and South, similarly to line 9. Francesc Macià i Llussà (; 21 September 1859 – 25 December 1933) was a Spanish politician from Catalonia who served as the 122nd president of the Generalitat of Catalonia, and formerly an officer in the Spanish Army. Politically, he evolved from an initial regenerationism of Spain to the defense of the Catalan Republic, becoming the first president of the restored Generalitat and achieving the first successful establishment of the self-government of Catalonia of modern history.
