Barbara Schett
Barbara Schett Eagle (; born 10 March 1976) is an Austrian former professional tennis player, who reached her highest singles ranking of world No. 7 in September 1999. Between 1993 and 2004 she played in 48 matches for the Austria Fed Cup team, winning 30. She also represented Austria at the 2000 Sydney Olympics in singles and doubles, reaching the quarterfinals of the singles event. She retired after the 2005 Australian Open and now works for Eurosport as a commentator and presenter. Tennis career 1991–1995 Barbara Schett made her debut at the WTA Tour as a wildcard entrant for the tournament in Kitzbühel. She played mostly at the ITF Circuit, and won the ITF tournament in Zaragoza in 1992. In 1993, Schett broke into the top 200, and reached the quarterfinals at Kitzbühel and Montpellier. 2000 Wimbledon Championships – Women's Doubles
Serena and Venus Williams defeated Julie Halard-Decugis and Ai Sugiyama in the final, 6-3, 6-2 to win the ladies' doubles tennis title at the 2000 Wimbledon Championships. They became the first pair of sisters to win the title. It was their third major title in doubles, and the third component in an eventual career Golden Slam in doubles. The 2000 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXVII Olympiad and also known as Sydney 2000 (Dharug: ''Gadigal 2000''), the Millennium Olympic Games or the Games of the New Millennium, was an international multi-sport event held from 15 September to 1 October 2000 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Cara Black and Wayne Black were the defending champions, but lost in semifinals to Lisa Raymond and Mike Bryan. Lisa Raymond and Mike Bryan won the title, defeating Elena Likhovtseva and Mahesh Bhupathi 6–3, 6–4 in the final. Virginia Ruano Pascual and Tomás Carbonell were the defending champions, but had different outcomes. Ruano Pascual teamed up with Gastón Etlis and lost in second round to Cara and Wayne Black, while Carbonell did not compete this year due to retiring from professional tennis in 2001. The United States' Serena Williams and Venus Williams defeated the Netherlands' Kristie Boogert and Miriam Oremans in the final, 6–1, 6–1 to win the gold medal in Women's Doubles tennis at the 2000 Summer Olympics. It was the first of an eventual three gold medals at the event for the Williams sisters. In the bronze medal match, Belgium's Els Callens and Dominique Van Roost defeated Belarus' Olga Barabanschikova and Natalia Zvereva, 4–6, 6–4, 6–1. The tournament was held in the Tennis Centre, Sydney Olympic Park in Sydney, Australia from 21 September till 28 September.
