Barbados competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, Australia from April 4 to April 15, 2018. It was Barbados's 16th appearance at the Commonwealth Games. Barbados Olympic Association
Barbados Olympic Association, founded in 1962, is the National Olympic Committee for Barbados. The body is also responsible for Barbados' representation at the Commonwealth Games. History Formed after the dissolution of the West Indies Federation in 1962, the Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) first competed at Olympic level at the 1968 Summer Olympics and has continued to compete at every Olympics since excluding the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. The President Sandra Osborne currently heads up the organization. With Ralph Johnson serving as Vice-President and Erskine Simmons serving as current Secretary General. Sada Williams
Sada Williams (born 1 December 1997) is a Barbadian sprinter competing primarily in the 200 and 400 metres. She won the bronze medal in the 400 m at the 2022 World Championships, becoming the first Barbadian woman ever to win a medal at the World Athletics Championships. Williams took a gold in the event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. She represented her country at the 2017 World Athletics Championships without reaching the semifinals. Williams competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She had a breakthrough 2022 season, finishing third in the 400 m at the World Championships Eugene 2022 in July. She improved her own national record to 49.75 seconds, coming home only behind Shaunae Miller-Uibo (49.11 s) and Marileidy Paulino who ran a time of 49.60 s. The men's 200 metres at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, as part of the athletics programme, took place in the Carrara Stadium between 10 and 12 April 2018. In the final, it initially appeared that England's Zharnel Hughes had edged Jereem Richards of Trinidad and Tobago at the line, recording the same time of 20.12 seconds. However, upon review Hughes was disqualified for impeding Richards (running in the next lane) using his arm. Richards was declared Commonwealth Games champion, with Canada's Aaron Brown and Leon Reid of Northern Ireland filling out the podium. Shane Rashad Brathwaite (born 8 February 1990 in Bridgetown) is a hurdler from Barbados who competed in the 110 metres hurdles at the 2012 Summer Olympics but did not finish the race in the qualifying heats. Stephen Headley
Stephen Headley (born 24 January 1988 in Pennsylvania) is a track and field sprinter who competed for Barbados at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Commonwealth Games Headley first competed at the 2010 Commonwealth Games for Barbados in the men's 100 metres event. He comfortable qualified through heat three with a time of 10.56 seconds finished 3rd behind Emmanuel Callander and Ramone McKenzie respectively. He once again qualified through the round two phase of the competition finishing 3rd equal with a time of 10.40 seconds, his race included Callander and McKenzie (which he drew too) once again. However, in his semi-finals, he wasn't as lucky. Headley finished 7th out of eight competitors with a time of 10.67 seconds, this time he beat Ramone McKenzie, who failed to start.
