Southport Broadwater Parklands
The Southport Broadwater Parklands is a large community park located in Southport. It is designed for large community gatherings and families. The park has many different areas for children and barbecue areas for families. The park went through a major redevelopment and was re-opened by the Premier of Queensland, Anna Bligh, on 23 August 2009. Southport Broadwater Parklands has become a popular family attraction. Getting here Public parking The Southport Broadwater Parklands is situated parallel to the Gold Coast Highway and opposite Australia Fair Shopping Centre. Vicky Holland (born 12 January 1986) is a British triathlete who is part of the Great Britain and Northern Ireland Olympic team, a 2-time World Mixed Team Champion and the 2018 ITU WTS champion. She was born in Gloucester. She is the first female triathlete to win an Olympic medal for Great Britain, a bronze in 2016. Lauren Parker (born 15 December 1988) is an Australian para-triathlete and para-cyclist. She won a silver medal at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. She has won multiple World Triathlon Championships in Women's PTWC. Personal life Parker was born on 15 December 1988 in Belmont, New South Wales. She lives in Newcastle, New South Wales. Paratriathlon Before having to transition to paratriathlon as a result of a serious training accident in April 2017, Parker was a successful triathlete. She took up triathlon at the age of 18 after being a successful junior swimmer. At the 2015 Ironman World Championship in Kona she finished second in the Women's 25–29 Age Group. The training accident left Parker with a punctured lung, broken ribs, shoulder blade and pelvis, and damaged spinal cord. She spent six months in hospital and spinal rehabilitation unit. Emily Tapp
Emily Tapp (born 10 June 1991) is an Australian wheelchair Paralympic athlete and triathlete. She was selected to represent Australia at the 2016 Rio Paralympics in athletics but was forced to withdraw before the Games due to a burns injury. She represented Australia at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in paratriathlon. Personal On 8 January 2011 Tapp had a campdrafting fall that left her a paraplegic. The accident resulted in her spending eight months in hospital and three years of rehabilitation. Tapp grew up on a remote cattle property in the Northern Territory. Jade Jones-Hall (born 4 January 1996), known previously as Jade Jones, is an English wheelchair racer, competing in T54 events, and a paratriathlete competing in handbike-to-wheelchair classifications. Jones competed in the 2012 Summer Paralympics in the 400m, 800m and 1500m. In 2018, she won the gold medal in Paratriathlon at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Nic Beveridge
Nic Beveridge (born 14 July 1986) is an elite Australian triathlete with a disability. He represented Australia at the 2016 Rio Paralympics when Triathlon made its debut at the Games and 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. He represented Australia at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games where he won a silver medal. Personal Beveridge was born on 14 July 1986 in Gold Coast, Queensland. He grew up in Mackay and was an avid sports fan taking part in cross county, swimming, water polo and hockey before waking up in 2003 at the age of 17 to discover he was completely paralysed from the chest down. Joe Townsend
Joseph Townsend (born 27 March 1988) is a British paratriathlete who competes in the PTWC classification. Townsend has won European and world medals as well as becoming Commonwealth Champion in 2018. He represented Great Britain at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio, where he finished sixth. Townsend has won the GBR Paratriathlon National Championships for four consecutive years- 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019. He lost both legs whilst serving in Afghanistan, after stepping on an IED in 2008. Andrea Hansen (née Hewitt, born 4 April 1982) is a New Zealand triathlete who placed third at the 2009 ITU Triathlon World Championships and competed at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Summer Olympics. Biography Hewitt was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1982. She lived together with the French triathlete Laurent Vidal, who was also her coach and fiancé, in Sète on the Mediterranean from May to December, and for the rest of the year she returned to Christchurch until his death on 10 November 2015 from a heart attack. Ryan Sissons (born 24 June 1988) is a New Zealand triathlete. Born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Sissons represented New Zealand at the 2012 London Olympics in the triathlon where he finished 33rd.
