Baranovichi (air Base)
Baranovichi is an air base of the Belarusian Air Force, Air Force and Air Defence Forces of the Republic of Belarus and formerly of the Soviet Air Force. It has the ICAO airport code UMMA. It is home to the 61st Fighter Air Base, flying Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29s, and Sukhoi Su-30s. It is located to the south of the city of Baranovichi. In 1950 the 61st Fighter Aviation Regiment of the Soviet Air Defence Forces' 2nd Air Defence Army was established at the base. The base has been in major use since November 7, 1951 when it received the 45th Heavy Bomber Aviation Division and 203rd TBAP and became one of the prime strategic bomber base of the early 1950s. Holm confirms the 45th TBAD arrived in November 1951, but gives the receiving base's coordinates as 53 5 51N, 26 2 50E. Baranavichy ( ; be, Бара́навічы, Łacinka: , ; russian: Бара́новичи; yi, באַראַנאָוויטש; pl, Baranowicze) is a city in the Brest Region of western Belarus, with a population (as of 2019) of 179,000. Tupolev Tu-22
The Tupolev Tu-22 (NATO reporting name: Blinder) was the first supersonic bomber to enter production in the Soviet Union. Manufactured by Tupolev, the Tu-22 entered service with the Soviet military in the 1960s. The aircraft was a disappointment, lacking both the speed and range that had been expected. It was also a difficult design to fly and maintain. It was produced in small numbers, especially compared to the Tupolev Tu-16 it was designed to replace. The aircraft was later adapted for other roles, notably as the Tu-22R reconnaissance aircraft and as carriers for the long-range Kh-22 antiship missile. Kyiv Offensive (2022)
The Kyiv offensive was a theater in the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. It involved attacks by Russia across the Russo-Ukrainian and Belarusian–Ukrainian borders beginning on 24 February 2022 for the control of Kyiv and its surrounding areas. Russian operations around Kyiv saw the occupation of parts of neighbouring Zhytomyr Oblast as well. Kyiv is the capital city of Ukraine, and houses the headquarters for the Ukrainian government and military command. Dzyomgi Airport (russian: Аэропорт Дзёмги) is an air base in Khabarovsk Krai, Russia located northeast of Komsomolsk-na-Amure. Dzyomgi is Komsomolsk-na-Amure's northeast side airport, handling small airliner traffic. The base is home to the 23rd Fighter Aviation Regiment which flies the Sukhoi Su-30M2/SM and the Sukhoi Su-35S under the 303rd Composite Aviation Division. The airport is also the site of a major Sukhoi plant (GAZ 126), built in 1934, where the Sukhoi Su-7 and later models have been built. 23rd Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment
The 23rd Guards Tallinn Fighter Aviation Regiment (; Military Unit Number 77984) is a fighter aviation regiment of the Russian Air Force. Based at Dzyomgi, the regiment is part of the 303rd Mixed Aviation Division of the 11th Air and Air Defense Forces Army. Flying the Sukhoi Su-35S, the regiment participated in the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. History The regiment was formed in 2000 as the 23rd Fighter Aviation Regiment by the merger of the 60th Fighter Aviation Regiment and the 404th Tallinn Order of Kutuzov Fighter Aviation Regiment. Sukhoi Su-35
The Sukhoi Su-35 (russian: link=no, Сухой Су-35; NATO reporting name: Flanker-E) is the designation for two improved derivatives of the Su-27 air-defence fighter. They are single-seat, twin-engine, supermaneuverable aircraft, designed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau and built by Sukhoi. The type was originally developed by the Soviet Union from the Su-27 and was known as the Su-27M. It incorporated canards and a multi-function radar giving it multi-role capabilities.
