The Baram Dam, also known as Baram 1 Dam, (Baram Hydro-electric Dam Project) is a proposed gravity dam on the Baram River in Sarawak, Malaysia. The site of the dam is inland from Miri, the second largest city in Sarawak. The dam is part of the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy and, if completed, would support a 1,200 MW power station. Baram River
The Baram River ( ms, Sungai Baram) is a river in Sarawak on the island of Borneo. The river originates in the Kelabit Highlands, a watershed demarcated by the Iran Mountains of East Kalimantan, which form a natural border with Sarawak. The river flows westwards through tropical rainforest to the South China Sea. The Baram River terminates in a delta, which is subdivided into two units: East Barma Delta of Middle-Late Miocene age and West Baram Delta of Late Miocene-Quaternary age. The western unit is composed of mudstones enriched in organic components (total organic carbon content is more than 1.0 wt.%) which constitute substantial oil and gas reserves. ''Gaepi-tteok'' () or ''baram-tteok'' () is a half-moon-shaped ''tteok'' (rice cake) made with non-glutinous rice flour and filled with white adzuki bean paste. Preparation Non-glutinous rice flour is steamed in ''siru'' (steamer) and pounded in ''jeolgu'' (mortar) to form a dough. It is then cut into small pieces, rolled out flat and round, and filled with '' geopipat-so'' (white adzuki bean paste) and sealed.
