Bar Cordano
The Bar Cordano is a restaurant and bar located next to Desamparados station and Government Palace, at the corner of Carabaya and Áncash streets in the historic centre of Lima, Peru. It is located in the first floor of the former Hotel Comercio. Due to its proximity to Government Palace, almost all presidents of Peru have dined in the restaurant since its inception. History The establishment was founded in 1905 by the Italians Vigilio Botano and brothers Luis and Antonio Cordano, on the first floor of the Hotel Comercio, known for a murder that took place on June 24, 1930. It belonged to its original owners for 73 years, being ceded to its workers in 1978. The Cordano family lived in front of the bar, in what today is the Bodega y Quadra Museum. It was declared part of the Cultural heritage of Peru on April 26, 1989. Pulpería was the name given to company stores and dining facilities in parts of South America, notably in the industries that extracted sodium nitrate from caliche deposits between 1850 and 1930 in Northern Chile in the current regions of Tarapaca and Antofagasta. The term was used in the Spanish colonial period in South America. In Tarapacá and Antofagasta, the settlements of the nitrate companies were called “Oficinas Salitreras” or “Saltpeter villages”, located on the large and arid Pampa del Tamarugal and Atacama Desert. Bodega Y Quadra Museum
Bodega y Quadra Museum ( es, Museo de Sitio Bodega y Quadra) is a site museum located at second block of Jirón Áncash, in the historic centre of Lima, Peru. Located on the remains of a terrain that dates back to the Viceroyalty of Peru, it illustrates the daily life of people during the Spanish and Republican era of the city. History The museum space incorporates an old butcher shop and slaughterhouse from the beginning of the 17th century, whose last owners were the Bodega y Quadra y Mollinedo family. These facilities were discovered during excavations for the construction of a building in 2005. An Italian Peruvian is a Peruvian citizen of Italian descent. The term may also refer to someone who has immigrated to Peru from Italy.
