Marty Baptist
Marty Baptist (born 1975 in Queensland, Australia) is a contemporary artist. His work has been exhibited internationally. Career Baptist grew up skateboarding and began painting at an early age, but didn’t pursue it until he had a skateboard injury. He then studied visual art at Morningside College of Art in Queensland, Australia. He moved to Sydney, Australia to exhibit his work and then later moved to New Zealand for a few years where he worked on his craft. On a commercial level he has collaborated with Oakley, Inc. and has been commissioned to work on such labels as Cliché skateboards and Vans Shoes. In 2002 early in his career he was asked to exhibit with Space Invader and Lance Mountain in which huge light boxes where placed on the walls of the famous Hosier Lane in Melbourne Australia. Maria Baptist (born 30 August 1971) is a German musician (pianist, composer) and professor. Career Maria Baptist was born in 1971 in East Berlin in a very musical family. Her grandfather was an orchestra musician and composer, her father himself is a pianist. Maria discovered very early her fascination for music and at the age of six she began playing the piano. At the age of eleven she composed her first pieces. Maria developed her desire to become a classical concert pianist. At the age of fifteen Maria listened to recordings of Dave Brubeck and Keith Jarrett and discovered for the first time the world of jazz and improvisation. Impressed by the musical expression, Maria felt that she had to continue on this path. She began studying piano at the music university in Berlin and won her first international piano competitions on improvisation. Travis Steven Baptist (born December 30, 1971) is a retired Major League Baseball pitcher. Baptist was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 45th round of the 1990 Major League Baseball Draft, and he played his first professional season with their Rookie league Medicine Hat Blue Jays in . On December 9, 1996, he was drafted by the Minnesota Twins from the Toronto Blue Jays organization in the minor league portion of the 1996 Rule 5 draft. While Baptist was a member of the Salt Lake Buzz in 1998, he was chosen as the starting pitcher for the Pacific Coast League team in the Triple-A All Star game. Baptist went on to later play his only season at the major league level with the Twins in 1998. Willem Baptist (1979) is a Dutch filmmaker and documentary-director. His documentary '' I’m Never Afraid!'' (2010) won a Golden Gate Award at San Francisco International Film Festival, Documentary Short Grand Jury Prize at Atlanta Film Festival, and a Kinderkast Jury award non-fiction at Cinekid Festival. George Baptist
George Baptist (7 January 1808 – 11 May 1875) was a logging contractor, born in Scotland and emigrated to Canada in 1832. Baptist first lived in Dorchester County, Quebec where he found employment in the sawmills there. These were owned by Sir John Caldwell and gave him valuable experience for his future endeavours. In 1846, he bought a sawmill in the Saint-Maurice region; which had been owned by Edward Greive, a member of the 2nd Parliament of the Province of Canada. Greive had died in 1845 and the mill was abandoned. Shortly after his purchase, the government became heavily involved in the timber industry. Rachael Baptist, also referred to as Rachel Baptiste and Rachael Crow (fl. 1750–1775) was a Black singer active in Ireland and England in the mid-18th century. Life Baptist was born sometime in the second quarter of the 18th century, but nothing else is known of her early life. She was described as a native of Africa by John O'Keefe, but also described by Italian musician Bernardo Palma as a 'native of this country', which may allude to Ireland. Dublin stage Her first recorded appearance on stage was in Dublin in February 1750, at a benefit concert for Bernardo Palma, her Italian singing teacher. Glenford Baptist
Glenford Baptist is a Belizean man who was convicted of murder and sentenced to death along with two other men under the doctrine of joint enterprise for a murder committed in July 2000. He is Belize's longest-serving death row inmate. In 2015, Baptist's death sentence was overturned and reduced to 25 years in prison. Crime Baptist was one of three men sentenced to death by hanging in November 2001 after they were convicted of murdering Azrin White, who was shot dead on the night of July 24, 2000. Along with Oscar Mendez and Gilroy Wade Jr., Baptist was held in Belize's Central Prison to await execution. Mendez successfully appealed his sentence in June 2002, arguing that he had been wrongly identified by a witness. He was released from prison. Wade was killed by another prisoner in 2007.
