Bantoo Singh
Bantoo Singh (born 17 February 1963), also spelled as Bantu Singh, is a former Indian first-class cricketer who played for Delhi cricket team from 1985/86 to 1995/96. In 2005, he became a selector for the Delhi District Cricket Association. Life and career Singh was born on 17 February 1963 in Delhi. His father Dilbaugh Singh was the founder of Delhi Gymkhana Club and had also played first-class cricket for Jammu and Kashmir cricket team. He had also worked as a selector of Delhi. Singh played as a right-handed middle-order batsman, representing Delhi between the 1985/86 to 1995/96 seasons. He scored more than 3000 first-class runs and 11 hundreds including hundreds in two Ranji Trophy finals: 179 against Bengal in the 1988–89 Ranji Trophy final and 123 against Tamil Nadu in the 1991–92 Ranji Trophy final. The 1988–89 Ranji Trophy was the 55th season of the Ranji Trophy, the premier first-class cricket tournament that took place in India between October 1988 and March 1989. Delhi defeated Bengal by an innings and 210 runs in the final. Sachin Tendulkar made his first-class debut in this season, in December 1988. Duleep Trophy
The Duleep Trophy, also known as Mastercard Duleep trophy due to sponsorship reasons, is a domestic first-class cricket competition played in India. Named after Kumar Shri Duleepsinhji of Nawanagar (also known as 'Duleep'), the competition was originally contested by teams representing geographical zones of India. Since 2016–17 it has been played by teams chosen by BCCI selectors. West Zone are the current champions. History The competition was started by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in the 1961–62 season. The inaugural tournament was won by West Zone who defeated South Zone in the final by 10 wickets. The North Zone cricket team is a first-class cricket team that represents northern India in the Duleep Trophy and Deodhar Trophy. Jammu And Kashmir Cricket Team
The Jammu and Kashmir cricket team is a cricket team based in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, run by JKCA. It is in the Elite Group C of the Ranji Trophy. Its main home ground is the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar, and it also plays at Gandhi Memorial Science College Ground in Jammu. History Jammu and Kashmir first took part in the Ranji Trophy in 1959-60. Until recent seasons it had always been one of the weaker teams. Its first victory did not come until the 1982-83 season, when it defeated Services by four wickets. The Delhi Gymkhana Club or Delhi Gymkhana is a club in New Delhi. It is located on 2, Safdarjung Road. History Originally called the 'Imperial Delhi Gymkhana Club', it was founded on 3 July 1913, at Coronation Grounds, Delhi. Its first president was Spencer Harcourt Butler, first governor of the then United Provinces of Agra and Oudh. In 1928, the club was allotted of land in the new imperial capital of India, New Delhi, on a perpetual lease. The word imperial was dropped when India gained independence in 1947.
