Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation, often abbreviated and known as BJMC is a public corporation that owns and manages all government jute factories and industries in Bangladesh and is located in the capital city of Dhaka. It also owns several public entities in various fields for its funding and revenue collection. History The corporation was formed in 1972 when the government of Bangladesh nationalised all the Jute Mills in the country. It manages Adamjee Jute Mills. It is responsible for nine state run jute mills in Bangladesh. Bangladesh University of Textiles, commonly referred to as BUTEX (), is a public university in Bangladesh, situated in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). Team Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (Team BJMC) was a sporting club in Bangladesh, which is mainly located in the city of Dhaka. The club was formerly known as East Pakistan IDC prior to 1971 and Bangladesh JIC from 1971 until 1978, from which point onward the club has been renamed to Team BJMC. In 1981 the club had stopped all their football related activities, however, after 29 years, in 2010 they restarted playing professional football under the new manager Arif Khan Joy. Adamjee Jute Mill was a jute mill in Bangladesh. It was established in Narayanganj in 1950 by the Adamjee Group. It was the second jute mill in East Pakistan (present day Bangladesh) after Bawa Jute Mill which was first Jute Mill in East Pakistan (Present day Bangladesh). Gradually, the mill became the largest jute mill in the world, exceeding the jute mills of Calcutta (now Kolkata), India, and Dundee, Scotland. The mills were nationalised after the independence of Bangladesh in 1972. It was operated by the Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation before being closed down in 2002.
