The Bangladesh Fire Service & Civil Defence (FSCD) of the People's Republic of Bangladesh is an emergency service operating under the Security Services Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Department's main goal is to provide fire protection, emergency medical care, and other critical public safety services to the people of Bangladesh. The Department also works to continually educate the public in fire, life safety and disaster preparedness. Organisation The organizational structure of the department consists of operations, maintenance, training, planning, development, administration, and finances. During an emergency, volunteers provide additional assistance to the department. Currently, the department has approximately 48,000 civilian volunteers.
