Khādir or Khadar and Bangar, Bāngur or Bhangar (Hindi language: खादर और बांगर, Urdu languageکهادر اور بانگر) are terms used in Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and Sindhi in the Indo-Gangetic plains of North India and Pakistan to differentiate between two types of river plains and alluvial soils. Bangur and Khadir areas are commonly found in the doab regions. Some villages may have both Khadar and Bangar areas within their revenue boundaries. Bhangar soils are less fertile as they are above flood level whereas Khadar soils are more fertile as they are below the flood level. Bhanger is full of kankers (lime nodules) while khadar soil is composed of fine silt and clay. It is fertile land as it contains alluvial soil deposited by rivers. Bangar is the town of the Bruneian district of Temburong, an isolated territorial exclave separated from the rest of the country by the Malaysian state of Sarawak. The population of the town proper was 626 in 2016. Geography One main road runs through the town, roughly east–west. Headed east of Bangar is Lawas, Sarawak (Malaysia) and to the west is the river crossing to Limbang, Sarawak (Malaysia). The road is the major route to the local quarry where boulders are collected, processed and shipped to stockyards in the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, for construction companies. The Bhangarh Fort is a 16th-century fort built in the Rajasthan state of India. The town was established during the rule of Bhagwant Das as the residence of his second son, Madho Singh. Bangar, officially the Municipality of Bangar ( ilo, Ili ti Bangar; fil, Bayan ng Bangar), is a 3rd class municipality in the province of La Union, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 38,041 people. Etymology The name Bangar derives from the ''bangar'' tree (''Sterculia foetida''), which was once abundant in the general area of the present town. The bangar tree is notable for the foul odor that emanates from its flowers. History 1700 marked the official foundation of Bangar under the patronage of Saint Christopher when it became a mission field. However, Christianity was brought as early as the later part of 1500, when Bangar was still a ''visita'' (chapelry) of Tagudin, with a community of 2,800 inhabitants. Mukim Bangar is a mukim in Temburong District, Brunei. It has a total area of ; the population was 2,449 in 2016. The mukim encompasses Bangar, the district's sole town and administrative centre. Name The mukim is named after the town Bangar, which is also the predominant settlement it encompasses. Geography The mukim is located in the north-west of the Temburong District, bordering Mukim Labu to the north, Mukim Batu Apoi to the east, Mukim Amo to the south-east, Mukim Bokok to the south-west and Limbang District in the Malaysian state of Sarawak to the west and north.
