Bangalore Central Business District
The central business district of Bangalore is the area within a 6 km radius around Vidhan Soudha. This is the center of the city and core commercial area of Bangalore which was founded by Kempegowda of the Vijayanagara Empire. Most of the land is used by commercial establishments and the Indian Army with plans of skyscrapers under works. It has multiple high-rises including World Trade Center Bangalore and UB Tower. It also includes heritage properties like the Bangalore Fort and the Bangalore Pete. The Collection in UB City is one of the first luxury shopping malls of South India. The land in CBD is expensive; Brigade Road and MG Road are amongst the most expensive in India. Vidhan Soudha
Vidhana Soudha () in Bangalore, India, is the seat of the state legislature of Karnataka. It is constructed in a style described as '' Neo-Dravidian'', and incorporates elements of various Dravidian styles. Construction was started in 1952 and completed in 1956. History The two houses of legislature of the princely state of Mysore, the legislative assembly and the legislative council, were established in 1881 and 1907 respectively. Sessions of the two houses took place in Mysore (with joint sessions taking place in the Bangalore Town Hall) until India's independence from British rule on 15 August 1947, when Mysore acceded to India. Mahatma Gandhi Road also known as MG Road is a road in Bangalore, India. It runs east from Trinity Circle at one end to Anil Kumble Circle at the other. Known as South Parade in pre-independence era, it was renamed as Mahatma Gandhi Road on 26 February 1948. M. G. Road is also one of the busiest roads in the city and is lined on one side with retail stores, food outlets, restaurants and many more. It has many office buildings, shops and theatres. Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. The 1934 film ''Sati Sulochana'' directed by Y. V. Rao was the first talkie film in the Kannada language. Church Street, Bangalore
Church Street is a busy street in the Central Business District of Bangalore, India. It is a 750-metre stretch from Brigade Road to St. Mark's Road, running parallel to M G Road. The street is named for St. Mark's Cathedral to which it leads. A tourist hotspot, Church Street is a major shopping and nightlife area. It is also a popular New Year's Eve celebration centre. In 2017, redevelopment work began on Church Street at a cost of 9 crore, which made it the first street in the city to be paved from granite cobblestones. The cobblestones were laid in a Kasuti pattern to reflect Karnataka's cultural heritage. In 2020, Church Street ran a pilot project called Clean Air Street during which the street was converted into a pedestrian zone with a complete ban on automobile traffic. Brigade Road is a large commercial centre and one of the busiest shopping areas in the heart of Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka State, India. It is a one-way connecting road from M G Road to Hosur Road, also connecting Residency Road and Church Street on the way. Bangalore Fort
Bangalore Fort began in 1537 as a mud fort. The builder was Kempe Gowda I, a vassal of the Vijaynagar Empire and the founder of Bangalore. Hyder Ali in 1761 replaced the mud fort with a stone fort and it was further improved by his son Tipu Sultan in the late 18th century. It was damaged during an Anglo-Mysore war in 1791. It still remains a good example of 18th-century military fortification. The army of the British East India Company, led by Lord Cornwallis on 21 March 1791 captured the fort in the siege of Bangalore during the Third Mysore War (1790–1792). At the time the fort was a stronghold for Tipu Sultan. Today, the fort's Delhi gate, on Krishnarajendra Road, and two bastions are the primary remains of the fort. A marble plaque commemorates the spot where the British breached fort's wall, leading to its capture. The old fort area also includes Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace, and his armoury.
