Bang Khae District
Bang Khae ( th, บางแค, ) is one of the 50 districts (''khet'') of Bangkok, Thailand. Its neighbouring districts, clockwise from north, are Thawi Watthana, Taling Chan, Phasi Charoen, Bang Bon, and Nong Khaem district. History From 6 March 1998, Phasi Charoen Sakha 1 district was combined with Lak Song sub-district, formerly part of Nong Khaem District, to form a new district, called Khet Bang Khae. The sub-districts of the new Bang Khae district then consisted of Bang Khae, Bang Khae Nuea, Bang Phai and Lak Song. Together with the creation of the district, the four sub-districts of Bang Khae were reorganised for administrative purposes. In 2009 the subdistrict boundaries were adjusted again. Its name means ''"county of the hummingbird tree"''; presumably, in the past there was a large population of this species in the district. Nong Khaem District
Nong Khaem ( th, หนองแขม, ) is one of the 50 districts (''khet'') of Bangkok, Thailand. The district is bounded by other Bangkok districts (from north clockwise): Thawi Watthana, Bang Khae, Bang Bon of Bangkok, Krathum Baen of Samut Sakhon province, Sam Phran and Phutthamonthon of Nakhon Pathom province. Nong Khaem is Bangkok's westernmost district. History Since the past, the canal Khlong Phasi Charoen is an important thoroughfare of Nong Khaem. The canal was built in 1871 during the reign of King Rama IV. That is why many local important places such as temples, communities, markets and police station located along the canal. On July 15, 1904, it was low tide while the royal barge went through Nong Khaem via Khlong Phasi Charoen. Lak Song
Lak Song ( th, หลักสอง, ) is a '' khwaeng'' (subdistrict) of Bang Khae district, Bangkok's Thonburi side. History Originally, Lak Song was a part of '' amphoe'' (district) Nong Khaem, a westernmost of Bangkok. Until 1998, the Ministry of Interior has merged certain areas of Nong Khaem and Phasi Charoen with Bang Khae, which is a newly established district. Since then Lak Song therefore became part of Bang Khae completely. Its name "Lak Song" meaning "the second milestone", refers to the second milestone of Khlong Phasi Charoen, a canal that flows through the area. It is a canal dug during King Mongkut (Rama IV)'s reign linking Bangkok to Krathum Baen of Samut Sakhon province. In the nearby area there is a temple named Wat Lak Sam (วัดหลักสาม, "three milestone temple"). Bang Phai ( th, บางไผ่, ) is a ''khwaeng'' (subdistrict) of Bang Khae District, Bangkok's Thonburi side. History It is named after Khlong Bang Phai, a ''khlong'' (canal) that flows through the area. Originally Bang Phai was part of Phasi Charoen District, until the year 1998, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has changed the new administrative district, make Bang Khae become a complete district and Bang Phai became a part of the Bang Khae ever since. Bang Khae Nuea ( th, บางแคเหนือ, ; lit: "north Bang Khae") is a ''khwaeng'' (sub-district) of Bang Khae District, Bangkok. Geography Bang Khae Nuea is a central area of Bang Khae, with a total area of 12.060 km2 (4.656 mi2). Khwaeng
A ''khwaeng'' (, ) is an administrative subdivision used in the fifty districts of Bangkok and a few other city municipalities in Thailand. Currently, there are 180 ''khwaeng'' in Bangkok. A ''khwaeng'' is roughly equivalent to a ''tambon'' in other provinces of Thailand, smaller than an ''amphoe'' (district). With the creation of the special administrative area of Bangkok in 1972 the ''tambon'' within the area of the new administrative entity was converted into ''khwaeng''.Item 17 of The common English translation for ''khwaeng'' is subdistrict. ''Sesbania grandiflora'', commonly known as vegetable hummingbird, katurai, agati, or West Indian pea, is a small leguminous tree native to Maritime Southeast Asia and Northern Australia. It has edible flowers and leaves commonly eaten in Southeast Asia and South Asia. Description ''Sesbania grandiflora'' is a fast-growing tree. The leaves are regular and rounded and the flowers white, red or pink. The fruits look like flat, long, thin green beans. Bang Bon District
Bang Bon ( th, บางบอน, ) is one of the 50 districts (''khet'') of Bangkok, Thailand. Its neighbours, clockwise from north, are Bang Khae, Phasi Charoen, Chom Thong, and Bang Khun Thian districts of Bangkok, Mueang Samut Sakhon district and Krathum Baen district of Samut Sakhon province, and Nong Khaem district of Bangkok. History Formerly Bang Bon was a tambon of amphoe Bang Khun Thian in Thonburi Province, prior to the merger of Thonburi and Phra Nakhon into a single province, after which it was a sub-district of Bang Khun Thian District. On 14 October 1997, Bang Bon was split from Bang Khun Thian and established as a new district. Phasi Charoen ( th, ภาษีเจริญ, ) is one of the 50 districts (''Khet'') of Bangkok, Thailand. The district is bounded by other Bangkok districts (from north clockwise): Taling Chan, Bangkok Noi, Bangkok Yai, Thon Buri, Chom Thong, Bang Bon, and Bang Khae. History The name of the district came from a canal, ''Khlong Phasi Charoen'' (คลองภาษีเจริญ), linking Tha Chin River to Khlong Bangkok Yai. The canal project was initiated by ''Phra Phasi Sombat Boribun'' (พระภาษีสมบัติบริบูรณ์), who later became ''Phraya Phison Sombat Boribun'' (พระยาพิสณฑ์สมบัติบริบูรณ์). Originally Phasi Charoen proposed to fund the project in exchange for the right to collect tolls for passage.
