Bambang Subianto
Bambang Subianto (10 January 1945 – 4 November 2022) was an Indonesian academic and technocrat who served as Minister of Finance from 1998 to 1999. Before assuming the post of finance minister, Bambang worked in the Department of Finance for about a decade. Early life and education Bambang was born on 10 January 1945 in Madiun during the Japanese occupation of the Dutch East Indies. Upon finishing his high school education, Bambang enrolled at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), where he studied chemical engineering. He graduated with an undergraduate degree in 1973. Five years later, Bambang went to KU Leuven in Belgium for his postgraduate studies in business administration and doctorate in economics. Madiun Regency
Madiun Regency ( id, Kabupaten Madiun; jv, ꦑꦧꦸꦥꦠꦺꦤ꧀ꦩꦝꦶꦪꦸꦤ꧀) is a landlocked Regency in East Java province, Indonesia. It covers an area of 1,010.86 km2, and had a population of 662,278 at the 2010 Census and 744,350 at the 2020 Census. It is bordered by Bojonegoro Regency in the north, Nganjuk Regency in the east, Ponorogo Regency in the south, and Magetan Regency and Ngawi Regency in the west, while the city of Madiun is an enclave within the regency. Its capital was formerly the city of Madiun but became the district of Mejayan, in accordance with Government Regulation No.52 of the year 2010. The Bank Bali scandal occurred in Indonesia in 1999 when Golkar Party officials colluded with the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency (IBRA) to coerce Bank Bali chief Rudy Ramli to pay an illegal commission of Rp546 billion (then equivalent to about US$80 million) to private company Era Giat Prima in order to collect Rp904.6 billion owed by two banks taken over by IBRA. Part of the funds were used to support then-president B.J. Habibie's re-election bid, but his accountability speech was rejected by the nation's top legislative body after the scandal broke. Syahril Sabirin (born 14 October 1943) is an Indonesian economist who served as Governor of Bank Indonesia, Indonesia's central bank, from 1998 to 2003. In 2009, he was sentenced to two years in jail for his role in the Bank Bali scandal. Education Syahril studied at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, graduating with an economics degree from the Faculty of Economics in 1968.
