Ballyhaise College
Ballyhaise College is an agricultural college, in Ballyhaise, County Cavan, run by Teagasc, with over 400 students. It was founded in 1906 at the former ''Ballyhaise House'', the house is over 300 years old, the estate consists of 220 hectares of grassland and woodland. The college specialises in training students for Forestry and Agricultural Industry. In recent years the college has developed close contacts with Dundalk Institute of Technology(DKIT) allowing students to achieve HETAC validated courses, and progression to further study. Ballyhaise (; ) is a village in County Cavan, Ireland. It is situated some north-northeast of Cavan Town. It is approximately a 15-minute drive or 11 km via the N54 to the border with County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. The River Annalee flows near the village. Location The village of Ballyhaise is located within the parish of Castletara and contains both Roman Catholic and Church of Ireland churches. History Ballyhaise has elements of a planned, Palladian estate village which was built to facilitate a local linen industry in the 1700s. The industry had failed by the 1800s. Today the village is home to a population of 711. The remnants of the Ballyhaise Estate Village lie in the possession of the state who acquired Ballyhaise house in 1905 and has run as an agricultural college ever since. Teagasc (, meaning "Instruction") is the semi-state authority in the Republic of Ireland responsible for research and development, training and advisory services in the agri-food sector. The official title of the body is Teagasc - The Agriculture and Food Development Authority. Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT; ga, Institiúid Teicneolaíochta Dhún Dealgan) is an institute of technology, located in Dundalk, Ireland. The Higher Education and Training Awards Council ( ga, Comhairle na nDámhachtainí Ardoideachais agus Oiliúna) (HETAC), the legal successor to the ''National Council for Educational Awards'' (NCEA), granted higher education awards in Ireland beyond the university system from 2001 to 2012. Denis O'Donnell
Denis O'Donnell (28 May 1875 – 16 June 1933) was a well-known entrepreneur in County Kerry, Ireland, in the early 1900s. He was the prime organiser, co-founder, and first manager of the Lee Strand Cooperative Creamery, established based on his wide experience and influenced by the cooperative movement of Sir Horace Plunkett and the emerging spirit of national self-sufficiency. Background He was born in Tubrid, Ardfert, County Kerry, to Patrick O'Donnell of Tubridmore, and Bridget (née Griffin) of Lerrig. He was a grandson of John O'Donnell of Ardfert, who lived at Tubridmore, and descended from O'Donnells of Tyrconnell, following on the implantation of O'Donnells in Ardfert by Prince Hugh Roe O'Donnell en route to the Battle of Kinsale in 1601, as recorded in the Annals of the Kingdom of Ireland. Seán Gallagher
Seán Gallagher (born 7 July 1962) is an Irish businessman and former reality television personality. He was a co-founder in 2000 of Smarthomes, which after initial success, failed in 2008–2010, and Gallagher departed in 2010–11. He was a panellist on RTÉ's ''Dragons' Den'' from 2009 to 2011. Gallagher was an active member of Fianna Fáil for 30 years, from 1981 to 2011, and sat on its National Executive twice (from 1985 to 1987, and from 2009 to 2011). He spent much of his career before Smarthomes working in Fianna Fáil, and in the Irish public service.
