Ballsh ( sq-definite, Ballshi) is a town and a former municipality in Fier County, southern Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became a subdivision and the seat of the municipality Mallakastër. It was the seat of the former District of Mallakastër. KF Bylis, also known as Bylis Ballsh, is an Albanian football club based in Ballsh, Mallakastër District. The club's home ground is the Adush Muça Stadium and they currently compete in the Kategoria Superiore. History Early history The club was formed in September 1972 as Ballshi i Ri, and they played in the Albanian Third Division between 1973 and 1976. But between 1976 and 1981, they were not allowed to participate in Albanian football due to laws restricting a single team from each district. They began playing once again in the Third Division in 1981, which they eventually won in 1986 and were promoted to the Albanian Second Division. Adush Muça Stadium
Adush Muça Stadium ( sq, Stadiumi Adush Muça) is a multi-use stadium in Ballsh, Albania. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Bylis. The stadium has a capacity of 5,200 people. Renovation In 2012, with the backing of the club's owners, the Albanian Football Association and the MTKRS, the stadium was renovated. A new pitch was laid and the ground's facilities were modernised as well 3,000 plastic seats being installed in the stands. Ballshi Inscription
The Ballshi inscription is an epigraph from the time of the Bulgarian Prince ('' Knyaz'') Boris I (852–889) testifying to the christianization of Bulgaria. The inscription was unearthed near Ballshi, Albania, in 1918. The Medieval Greek–language Bulgarian inscription covers the upper part of a marble column which also features, in its bottom part, the later Latin epitaph of Norman commander Robert de Montfort who died in 1108, with a cross in the middle of the column. The column was discovered by Austro-Hungarian soldiers during World War I 25 kilometres southwest of the Albanian town of Berat, near Ballshi, among the ruins of a monastery. Mallakastër
Mallakastër ( sq-definite, Mallakastra) is a region and a municipality in Fier County, southwestern Albania. It was created in 2015 by the merger of the present municipalities Aranitas, Ballsh, Fratar, Greshicë, Hekal, Kutë, Ngraçan, Qendër Dukas and Selitë. The seat of the municipality is the town Ballsh. The total population is 27,062 (2011 census), in a total area of 329.37 km2. It is coterminous with the former Mallakastër District. Name The municipality takes its name from the Mallakastër hills. Geography The landscape consists of fields alternated with low hills. Epitaph Of Gllavenica
The Epitaph of Gllavenica ( sq, Epitafi I Gllavenicës) is a 14th-century epitaph, written on a shroud, and embroidered by a monk named Savia from Ballsh, Albania. Its name stems from the ancient name of Ballsh. The shroud is made of silk, linen and gold, and symbolizes the burial cloth of Jesus, used in Orthodox Good Friday's processions. Technically, stylistically and in the decorative motifs, it is one of the most perfect artifacts of this genre in the Balkans. The Epitaph represents the dead Christ lying on a linen, Saint Mary, John, other Four Evangelists, prophets and angels with spread wings. It was commissioned by the Albanian ruler Gjergj Arianiti in 1373. Taçi Oil is an Albanian petroleum company and oil distributor in Albania headquartered in Tirana. The company's revenue for 2012 was €350 million. and had over 290 petrol stations through Albania and over 850 employees.
