Ballinascarty (), also known as Ballinascarthy, is a village in County Cork, Ireland. Location Ballinascarty lies in West Cork, approximately north-northeast of Clonakilty and 15km south-west of Bandon, on the main N71 road from Clonakilty to Cork. Places of interest Nearby is the Lisselan Estate, the gardens of which are open to the public. There is also a golf course. Henry Ford, the well-known machine manufacturer was of Irish descent. Henry Ford's father, William, and grandfather, John, were born in Ballinascarty before their emigration to Detroit, Michigan, United States. Henry Ford went on to be one of the most influential people in the automotive industry, inventing mass production and the Fordson model F tractor, which put many small-scale tractor manufacturers out of business. Teddy Holland
Timothy A. Holland (born 1948), known as Teddy Holland, is an Irish Gaelic football coach and former player. At club level he played with Ballinascarthy, Carbery and St Finbarr's and was a member of and later managed the Cork senior football team. Holland usually lined out as a forward. Playing career Holland's club career spanned four decades from the 1960s to the early 1990s. Beginning with Ballinascarthy, he earned inclusion on the Carbery divisional team that won County Championship titles in 1968 and 1971. He later transferred to the St Finbarr's club and was at midfield on their 1981 All-Ireland Club Championship-winning team. Ballinascarthy GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Ballinascarthy, County Cork, Ireland. It is affiliated with Cork GAA and Carbery divisional board. The club participates in both Gaelic Football and Hurling competitions. History The Ballinascarthy club was formed in 1945. The current club caters for 20 teams of all age groups from under 6 years and upwards in both hurling and football. The first material success came in 1956 when the junior (2) Footballers captured the South West Championship. This was a significant achievement at the time considering that the competition was then contested by all the Junior 1 teams eliminated in the first round of the premier championship including first string sides from major clubs such as Bantry Blues and Skibbereen. Fordson Tractor
Fordson was a brand name of tractors and trucks. It was used on a range of mass-produced general-purpose tractors manufactured by Henry Ford & Son Inc from 1917 to 1920, by Ford Motor Company (U.S.) and Ford Motor Company Ltd (U.K.) from 1920 to 1928, and by Ford Motor Company Ltd (U.K.) from 1929 to 1964.
