Bala Nandgaonkar
Bala Nandgaonkar (b 1957) is an Indian politician from Maharashtra. He started with Shiv Sena, and later joined Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. He is a three term Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Usroli (Murud Janjira)and Shivadi Assembly Constituency. Early political life Bala Nandgaonkar was first elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on a Shiv Sena ticket in 1995 from Mazgaon, and won again in 1999 and 2004. He was elected to Vidhan Sabha in 2009 from Shivadi on MNS ticket, but lost in 2014. Maharashtra Legislative Assembly
The Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha or the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly is the lower house of the legislature of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is situated in the Nariman Point area of South Mumbai in the capital Mumbai. Presently, 288 members of the Legislative Assembly are directly elected from the single-seat constituencies. The members of the upper house, the Maharashtra Vidhan Parishad (the legislative council) are indirectly elected through an electoral college. Sessions The budget session and the monsoon session are convened in Mumbai whereas the winter session is convened in the auxiliary capital Nagpur. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (translation: Maharashtra Reformation Army; MNS) is a Regionalist far-right Indian political party based in the state of Maharashtra and operates on the ideology of "Hindutva" and "Marathi" Manus. It was founded on 9 March 2006 in Mumbai by Raj Thackeray after he left the Shiv Sena party due to differences with his cousin Uddhav Thackeray, who was the 19th Chief Minister Of Maharashtra and to his sidelining by the Shiv Sena in major decisions like distribution of election tickets. MNS won 13 assembly seats (out of 288) in the 2009 assembly elections, which was the first Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election that the party contested. Murud-Janjira () is the local name of a famous fort and tourist spot situated on an island just off the coastal town/city of Murud, Raigad, Murud, in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, India. Shiv Sena ( IAST: ''Śiva Sēnā'') () was a right-wing to far-right Marathi regionalist and Hindu ultranationalist political party in India founded in 1966 by cartoonist Bal Thackeray. Originally emerging from nativist movements in Bombay (present-day Mumbai), the party agitated for preferential treatment for the Marathi people over migrants from other parts of India.
