Barclay 'Titch' Shrapnell Bailes (9 August 1883 – 24 September 1955), sometimes known as "Bark" Bailes, was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Perth Football Club, Perth in the West Australian Football League, West Australian Football League (WAFA) in 1904, for Fitzroy Football Club in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League (VFL) from 1905 to 1909, and for Brighton Football Club, Brighton in the Victorian Football League, Victorian Football Association (VFA), from 1910 to 1915. Scott Alan Bailes (born December 18, 1961) is an American former professional baseball pitcher who pitched for three teams during a nine-year Major League Baseball (MLB) career. Career During his youth, he moved to Missouri, and participated in Little League, Pony League, and American Legion teams. He played baseball in college for Southwest Missouri State University, and on January 12, 1982, was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 7th round. However, Bailes did not sign, and played college baseball during the spring of 1982. In the secondary phase of the draft, Bailes was drafted again, this time in the fourth round by the Pittsburgh Pirates on June 7, 1982. He signed with the team on July 1. Professional career After playing in the Pirates' farm system for a few years, he was traded to the Cleveland Indians. Alfred Shrapnell Bailes
Alfred Shrapnell Bailes (23 July 1849 – 15 January 1928) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1886 to 1894 and from 1897 to 1907. He also served as mayor of Bendigo from 1883 to 1884. Early life Bailes was born on 23 July 1849 in Baltonsborough, Somerset, England. He arrived in Melbourne in 1852, where his father Henry worked on the construction of Parliament House as a wood-carver. Bailes began his education at a tent school on the Government House reserve. He later attended a Presbyterian school on Punt Road before completing his education in Bendigo, where his family moved in 1860. After leaving he began working as a compositor on the ''Sandhurst Bee'', later working on the '' Bendigo Advertiser'' and the '' Melbourne Argus''. Alyson Judith Kirtley Bailes CMG (6 April 1949 – 29 April 2016) was a British diplomat, political scientist, academic and polymath. Early life Bailes was born on 6 April 1949 in Withington, Manchester. She was the eldest of three children of Barbara (née Martin) and John Lloyd Bailes, both of whom were teachers. She attended The Belvedere School and received a scholarship to Somerville College, Oxford. While at Oxford, she represented her college on University Challenge. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree (first class honours) in Modern History in 1969 and a Master of Arts in 1971. Ernest James Bailes IV (born April 13, 1982), is a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives for District 18 in southeastern Texas. Bailes in 2017 succeeded Republican John Otto, who did not seek re-election in 2016. Margaret Johnson Bailes (born January 23, 1951) is an American athlete who competed in the 100 and 200 meters. Early life Margaret Johnson Bailes was born in the Bronx. When she was five, she moved to Eugene, Oregon with her family after her father, Albert "Duke" Johnson, decided it would be a good place to raise his children.
