Baibakov Art Projects
Baibakov Art Projects is a non-profit organization that aims to provide platforms for cultural production primarily within Moscow. History Founded in 2008, the initiative was the first to make use of the former Red October Chocolate Factory in the center of Moscow. Baibakov Art Projects inaugurated its 3000m2 space with an exhibition called invasion : evasion, which challenged 22 Russian artists and collectives (including Gosha Ostretsov, Ira Korina, Dmitry Teselkin and Alina Gutkina) to launch a creative invasion of the exhibition space. It followed this exhibition with "Natural Wonders: New Art from London," a show which likewise featured a showcase of 22 artists and collectives based in London (among them Idris Khan, Conrad Shawcross, Ryan Gander and Shezad Dawood.) Red October Chocolate Factory
Red is the color at the long wavelength end of the visible spectrum of light, next to orange and opposite violet. It has a dominant wavelength of approximately 625–740 nanometres. It is a primary color in the RGB color model and a secondary color (made from magenta and yellow) in the CMYK color model, and is the complementary color of cyan. Luc Tuymans
Luc Tuymans (born 14 June 1958) is a Belgian visual artist best known for his paintings which explore people's relationship with history and confront their ability to ignore it. World War II is a recurring theme in his work. He is a key figure of the generation of European figurative painters who gained renown at a time when many believed the medium had lost its relevance due to the new digital age. Much of Tuymans' work deals with moral complexity, specifically the coexistence of 'good' and 'evil'. His subjects range from major historical events such as the Holocaust to the seemingly inconsequential or banal: wallpaper, Christmas decorations or everyday objects for example. The artist's sparsely-coloured figurative paintings are made up of quick brush strokes of wet paint. Olga Chernysheva (born 1962 in Moscow, Russia) is a contemporary artist who lives and works in Moscow. Her work spans film, photography, drawing and object-based mediums, where she draws on quotidian moments and marginal spaces from everyday life as a way of exploring the increasing fragmentation of master narratives in contemporary Russian culture. She holds a BA from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography, Moscow and she finished a residency at the Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam.
