Bahgat Osman
Bahgat Muhammad Osman (1931–2001) (Arabic: بهجت محمد عثمان) was an Egyptian cartoonist and illustrator, most widely known as for his political cartoons and children's book illustrations throughout most of the Arab world. Early life Osman was born in the Boulaq district of Cairo in 1931. Ahmad Shukry, his fourth grade art instructor, discovered Osman's talent and was one of his first supporters until he moved to the secondary school where he met his first mentor Yusuf Raafat. He later enter the College of Fine Arts in Cairo where he studied sculpture. Soon after graduation, Osman worked as an art instructor in the district of Al-Mansoura. Politics During the 1960s and 1970s, Osman was a political cartoonist. He sought exile in Kuwait from the regime of Anwar Sadat. He returned to Cairo soon after Sadat's assassination in 1981. College Of Fine Arts In Cairo
Cairo College of Fine Arts is a school of fine arts established in Cairo in 1908 and is now the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Helwan University. History The College of Fine Arts was founded by Yusuf Kamal in 1908. More than 150 students were enrolled in the first year. Education was imparted free of charge to students of all nationalities and religions. It offered classes in painting, decoration, sculpture, architecture, and calligraphy. Guillaume Laplagne, a French sculptor established in Egypt, was the school's first director. The college's students exhibited for the first time in 1911 at the Automobile Club in Cairo. Some consider that this can be considered the first exhibition by Egyptian artists of the century. It was taken over by the Ministry of Education (Egypt) in 1928. ''Al-Hilal'' () is a monthly Egyptian cultural and literature magazine founded in 1892. It is among the oldest magazines dealing with arts in the Arab world. History and profile ''Al-Hilal'' was founded in 1892 by Jurji Zaydan, a journalist from Beirut who had come to Egypt in the 1880s. The first issue of the monthly was published in September 1892. After Jurji Zaydan's death the journal was edited by his sons, Emile and Shukri Zaydan. ''Hawaa'' (Arabic: ''Eve'') is a weekly women's magazines published in Cairo, Egypt. The magazine is modelled by other women's magazines in the Arab countries. It was Egypt's first women's magazine, founded in 1954. History and profile ''Hawaa'' was first published in 1954. The founder was Amina Al Said, an Egyptian journalist and feminist. ''Al Messa'' (in Arabic المساء, literally, ''The Evening'') is an Arabic daily newspaper published in Cairo, Egypt. History and profile ''Al Masaa'' was founded in October 1956. From its start to March 1959 the paper was edited by Marxist and leftist journalists. During this period Lutfi Al Khuli was the editor of a column addressed the workers, and the paper employed the colloquial Arabic which was considered to be the major language variety of the workers and peasants. ''Al Ahali'', also known as ''Al Ahaly'', ( Arabic: ''The Masses'') is an Arabic daily newspaper published in Cairo, Egypt. The paper has been in circulation since 1978 and is the official media outlet of the National Progressive Unionist Party History and profile ''Al Ahali'' was first published in February 1978. Sabah () is a state of Malaysia located in northern Borneo, in the region of East Malaysia.
