Latario Collie-Minns (born March 10, 1994) is a Bahamian triple jumper. He won the gold medal at the 2011 World Youth Championships in Lille, France, and eventually represented his nation Bahamas at the 2016 Summer Olympics, scratching all three of his jumps in the preliminary round. In his college career, Collie-Minns established history as the fifth Bahamian to capture the NCAA men's triple jump title for the Texas A&M Aggies. 2015 World Championships In Athletics – Men's Triple Jump
The men's triple jump at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Beijing National Stadium on 26 and 27 August. The early season meet at Doha gave an indication that this would be an exciting year in the triple jump. Pedro Pablo Pichardo, who would return here as the previous silver medalist jumped 18.06 to become the #3 jumper in history. In that same meet, Olympic Champion Christian Taylor was only 2 cm behind to equal the previous #3, who was the defending world champion Teddy Tamgho. Tamgho was also in Doha, finishing in third behind the fireworks, but Tamgho was coming off a 1-year drug suspension for missing multiple tests. Following that meet, two weeks later Pichardo improved his world lead to 18.08 at home in Havana and then in early July, Taylor improved to 18.06 and beat Pichardo in Lausanne. Leevan Sands (born August 16, 1981 Nassau) is a Bahamian triple jumper. His personal best jump is 17.59 metres, achieved in 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. This is the current Bahamian record and won a bronze medal. He also won bronze medals at the 2003 World Championships and 2002 Commonwealth Games. Donald Thomas (born 1 July 1984) is a Bahamian high jumper from Freeport, Bahamas. Biography Thomas initially played basketball at Bishop Michael Eldon School in Freeport Bahamas, before taking up high jump in January 2006 while studying at Lindenwood University in Saint Charles, Missouri, where he played on the University's basketball team. He tried high jump for the first time when challenged by members of the track and field team, who were reacting to his claims about his ability to slam dunk. Thomas cleared 6'6" (1.98 m) on his first attempt and 7' (2.13 m) on his third ever jump. Botswana showed immense raw talent but in severe need of coaching in the finesse of running competitive relays. Ramon Miller (born 17 February 1987, Nassau) is a Bahamian sprinter. He was inducted into the Dickinson State University Hall of Fame class of 2020. Career He was part of the Bahamas' silver medal-winning team in the men's 4 × 400 m relay at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, after running in the heats. Miller is a former athlete at Dickinson State University where he won nine NAIA track and field national championships in his four-year career.
