Laceno
Laceno is an Italian hamlet (''frazione'') and ski resort situated in the municipality of Bagnoli Irpino, Province of Avellino, Campania. It includes a Ski Resort (with 18 km of ski Slopes) with artificial snow if required, a lake with food area, Caliendo Caves and a Trekking Point. History The Village was born in 1956, as a summer resort, with outdoor sports and a Neorealist Film Festival film festival awarding the "''Laceno d'Oro''" (Golden Laceno), since moved to Avellino. Between 1972 and 1975 the ski-lift was built and Laceno became a summer and winter resort. The village, today, consists of some hotels, residence, holiday-homes, wooden buildings (used by Ski and Sport rentals) and restaurants. Acerno, is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Salerno in the region of Campania in south-western Italy. Geography Acerno is a large village located 40 km north-east of the provincial capital of Salerno at 727 metres above sea level in the valley of the Tusciano, a river which rises on the slopes of Monte Polveracchio. It lies within the Parco regionale Monti Picentini, a regional park of the Monti Picentini group in the Southern Apennines. Calabritto (Irpino: ) is an Italian town and a commune in the province of Avellino, Campania, Italy. It occupies a hilly-mountainous area at the eastern tip of the Monti Picentini range. History The town was struck by the 1980 Irpinia earthquake on 23 November. The town had to be rebuilt after the serious damage that was inflicted. Lioni is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Avellino, Campania, southern Italy. Located in western Irpinia, in the Monti Picentini natural park, the municipality borders with Bagnoli Irpino, Calabritto, Caposele, Morra De Sanctis, Nusco, Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi and Teora. It is from Avellino and is linked by a mountain road to the ski resort of Laceno. History The town's name appears for the first time in a donation dated 883, with which the Lombard prince Sichard granted the abbess of S. Sofia a property located in "Lions" (Lioni). The ancient settlement was probably one of the smaller neighboring towns of Ferentino, a Samnite stronghold destroyed by the Romans during the wars between these two peoples. Montella
Montella is an Italian town and ''comune'' (municipality) in the province of Avellino, Campania, with a population of 7,699. The zone was inhabited already in the neolithic period. The town was founded by the Samnites in the 1st millennium BC, to become a municipality of the Roman Empire and a town under the Lombards. Culture Montella is a production center of chestnuts, and the comune organizes the Sagra Castagna di Montella (Montella Chestnut Festival) each fall. An eco-museum dedicated to the chestnut, the Museo della Castagna Montella, opened in 2014.
