These are the results of the men's doubles competition in badminton at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing } Beijing ( ; ; ), alternatively romanized as Peking ( ), is the capital of the People's Republic of China. Matches were played using a best-of-three games format. Games were played to 21 points, using rally scoring. Each game had to be won by a margin of two points, except when the game was won by a player who reached 30 even if the lead was only 1 at that point. The top four seeds in the tournament were placed in the bracket so as not to face each other until the semifinals. All other competitors were placed by draw. The Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium () is an indoor arena located on the campus of the Beijing University of Technology in the Chaoyang District in Beijing, China. Xie Zhongbo
Xie Zhongbo (; born 22 May 1983) is a former Chinese badminton player from Hunan and raised in Sichuan. After retired from the international tournament, he works as badminton coach in Sichuan. Career A doubles specialist on the world circuit, Xie has regularly partnered Guo Zhendong in men's doubles and Zhang Yawen in mixed doubles over the past several years. Xie and Guo have won the Polish International (2004), the China Masters (2005), and the India Open (2008) together. Alvent Yulianto Chandra (born 11 July 1980) is a badminton player from Indonesia. Born in Glenmore, Banyuwangi, East Java, he has been playing badminton since he was 10 years old in a club named Suryanaga Gudang Garam Surabaya. Personal life On 16 October 2021, Yulianto married Freeisy Ester Sompie, also an Indonesian badminton player. Their holy matrimony was held at GMIM Sion Tumaluntung, North Minahasa. Luluk Hadiyanto (born 8 June 1979) is a badminton player from Indonesia, specialized in men's doubles and former world number one with doubles partner Alvent Yulianto. Early years "Lulu" as he is fondly called, was a member of badminton club PB Djarum. He was born in the small village of Pengkolrejo, in the district of Japah, Blora, Central Java. He was the first son of three siblings of the couple Edi Sunarto and Sulami, his parents both educators at an elementary school. Robert Bogumił Mateusiak (born 13 January 1976) is a Polish retired badminton player. Career Łogosz and Mateusiak won bronze medals at the European Championships in 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2006. Michał Andrzej Łogosz (born 23 November 1977) is a Polish badminton player from Litpol-Malow Suwałki club. He was named best sportsman in Płock in 1995. Jonas Rasmussen (born 28 October 1977 in Aarhus) is a retired badminton player from Denmark. Career With his men's doubles partner Lars Paaske he won the 2003 IBF World Championships defeating Indonesian pair Candra Wijaya and Sigit Budiarto in the gold medal match and the All England Super Series 2010 defeating compatriots Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen. Rasmussen also competed in badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's doubles with Paaske. Lars Paaske (born 18 January 1976) is a badminton player from Denmark. Career He competed in badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's doubles with partner Jonas Rasmussen. After an initial bye in the first round, then were defeated in the next round by Yim Bang-eun and Kim Yong-hyun of Korea.
