Badminton was inducted at the Youth Olympic Games at the inaugural edition in 2010. The program included two competitions: Boys' singles and Girls' singles. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Play ends once the shuttlecock has struck the floor or if a fault has been called by the umpire, service judge, or (in their absence) the opposing side. The shuttlecock is a feathered or (in informal matches) plastic projectile which flies differently from the balls used in many other sports. Lee Chia-hsin (; born 14 May 1997) is a Taiwanese badminton player. She won her first international title at the 2013 Polish International in the women's doubles event partnered with Wu Ti-jung. Yoyo Ng Tsz Yau (; born 24 April 1998) is a Hong Kong badminton player. She started playing badminton at aged 5, and in 2013, she competed in the women's doubles event with Yeung Nga Ting. In 2017, she reach the mixed doubles semi final round at the Malaysia Masters, and in November 2017, she and Yeung won the senior tournament at the Tata Open India International tournament. Cheam June Wei (born 23 January 1997) is a Malaysian badminton player. He was the mixed doubles gold medalist at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics. Career Cheam started playing badminton at aged 8 in Penang. As a junior player, he has been trained by Teh Peng Huat, the former coach of world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei, for more than year before training under task Lim Theam Teow. In 2012, he won the mixed team bronze medal at the Asia Junior Championships in Gimcheon, South Korea. Lalinrat Chaiwan ( th, ลลินรัตน์ ไชยวรรณ; born Pattarasuda Chaiwan ( th, ภัทรสุดา ไชยวรรณ), 21 February 2001) is a Thai badminton player. Wang Zhiyi (; born 29 April 2000) is a Chinese badminton player from Shashi, Jingzhou, in Hubei province. She started her career as a badminton player by training in Jingzhou sports school. She went to the Hubei provincial training centre in 2009, and was selected to join the team in 2013. In 2016, Wang joined the national team, and became part of the national second team in 2017. She was the girls' singles champion at the 2018 Asian Junior Championships, and also helped the national team to clinch the mixed team title. He Bingjiao (; Mandarin pronunciation: ; born 21 March 1997) is a Chinese badminton player. She began to receive intensive badminton training at the Suzhou Junior Sports School, when she was 7 years old. Five years later, she was sent to study in Nanjing and for tougher training there.
