Verophasmatodea
The Euphasmatodea, also known by its junior synonym Verophasmatodea is a suborder of the Phasmatodea, which contains the vast majority of the extant species of stick and leaf insects, excluding the Timematodea. The oldest record of Euphasmatodea is '' Araripephasma'' from the Crato Formation of Brazil, dating to the Aptian stage of the Early Cretaceous. Superfamilies and families The suborder was divided into two infraorders: the Areolatae and Anareolatae, based on the presence or absence of an "areola": the of a small ring of colour or gap in wing margin - see the Glossary of entomology terms. This division has now been superseded with the "suborder Agathemerodea ... downgraded and Areolatae/Anareolatae divisions removed, leaving the existing four superfamilies in Euphasmatodea". Macynia (insect)
Macynia or Makynia ( grc, Μακυνία), Macyna or Makyna (Μακύνα),Plutarch ''Quaest. Graec.'' 15 or Macyneia or Makyneia (Μακύνεια), was a coastal town of ancient Aetolia at the foot of the eastern slope of Mount Taphiassus. According to Strabo it was built after the return of the Heraclidae into Peloponnesus. It is called a town of the Ozolian Locrians by the poet Archytas of Amphissa, who describes it in a hexameter line: "the grape-clad, perfume-breathing, lovely Macȳna." It is also mentioned in an epigram of Alcaeus of Messene, who was a contemporary of Philip V of Macedon. Pliny mentions a mountain Macynium, which must have been part of Mount Taphiassus, near Macynia, unless it is indeed a mistake for the town. Its site is tentatively located near the modern Makyneia Makyneia ( el, Μακύνεια) is a seaside village and a community in Nafpaktia, Aetolia-Acarnania, Greece. Cape Province
The Province of the Cape of Good Hope ( af, Provinsie Kaap die Goeie Hoop), commonly referred to as the Cape Province ( af, Kaapprovinsie) and colloquially as The Cape ( af, Die Kaap), was a province in the Union of South Africa and subsequently the Republic of South Africa. It encompassed the old Cape Colony, as well as Walvis Bay, and had Cape Town as its capital. In 1994, the Cape Province was divided into the new Eastern Cape, Northern Cape and Western Cape provinces, along with part of the North West. History When the Union of South Africa was formed in 1910, the original Cape Colony was renamed the Cape Province. It was by far the largest of South Africa's four provinces, as it contained regions it had previously annexed, such as British Bechuanaland (not to be confused with the Bechuanaland Protectorate, now Botswana), Griqualand East (the area around Kokstad) and Griqualand West (area around Kimberley). As a result, it encompassed two-thirds of South Africa's terr ...
