Baba Rampuri
Indian honorifics#Replacement type, Baba Rampuri, born William A. Gans (July 14, 1950), also known as Baba Ram Puri -ji is an American born Sadhu. He claims to be the first Western culture, westerner to become a Naga Sadhu, having been initiated in 1970. He is the author of the 2010 Destiny Books published book ''Autobiography of a Sadhu: A Journey into Mystic India'', originally published in 2005 by Harmony/Bell Tower as ''Baba: Autobiography of a Blue-Eyed Yogi'', and now released by Amarpuri Wellness in 2016 as ''Autobiography of a Sadhu: An Angrez among Naga Babas'' which has also been translated into German, Russian, Czech, Croatian, and Serbian. He was initiated into the religious order the Naga Sannyasa, Sannyasis after traveling to India on a spiritual quest from his native California in 1969, at the age of 18. Hari Puri Ashram
Hari ( sa, हरि) is among the primary epithets of the Hindus, Hindu preserver deity Vishnu, meaning 'the one who takes away' (sins). It refers to the one who removes darkness and illusion, the one who removes all obstacles to spiritual progress. In the Rigveda, ''Rigveda’s'' Purusha Sukta (praise of the supreme cosmic being), Hari is the first and most important name of the supreme Divine Being (whose Sanskrit cognate is Brahman). The Kumbh Mela at Haridwar is a mela held every 12 years at Haridwar, India. The exact date is determined according to Hindu astrology: the Mela is held when Jupiter is in Aquarius and the Sun enters Aries. Abbot
Abbot is an ecclesiastical title given to the male head of a monastery in various Western religious traditions, including Christianity. The office may also be given as an honorary title to a clergyman who is not the head of a monastery. The female equivalent is abbess. Pir (Sufism)
Peer or Pir ( fa, پیر, lit=elder) is a title for a Sufi spiritual guide. They are also referred to as a ''Hazrat'' (from ar, حضرة, Haḍra) and ''Sheikh (Sufism), Sheikh'' or Shaykh, which is literally the Arabic equivalent. The title is often translated into English as "saint." In Sufism a Pir's role is to guide and instruct his disciples on the Sufi path.
