Baakline Attack
On 21 April 2020 in Baakline, Chouf District, Mount Lebanon Governorate, Lebanon, nine people were killed. Mazen Harfoush is the suspect. His wife is one of those killed. The killing spree began at 3:30pm, using a knife to kill Harfoush's wife; then eight other people were shot dead. They include Harfoush's brother, Fawzi Harfoush, who was previously suspected of being an accomplice. Six of the victims were Syrian and the other three Lebanese. The attack is the non-conflict attack, and Harfoush was arrested in the evening. Baakline
Baakleen or Baakline ( ar, بعقلين) is a major Druze town located in Mount Lebanon, Chouf District, 45 kilometers southeast of Beirut. Altitude 850 – 920 meters high, population is 30,000, area 14 square km, number of homes 2,870. Bordering Towns: Deir El Qamar, Beit Eddine, Aynbal, Deir Dourit, Symkanieh, and Jahlieh. History Founded in the 12th century by the Maan family, Maan emirs, Baakline served as their capital until the early 17th century when its most famous Emir Fakhreddin II, moved to Deir el Qamar.
