Balanced Repeated Replication
Balanced repeated replication is a statistical technique for estimating the sampling variability of a statistic obtained by stratified sampling. Outline of the technique # ''Select balanced half-samples'' from the full sample. # ''Calculate the statistic of interest'' for each half-sample. # ''Estimate the variance of the statistic'' on the basis of differences between the full-sample and half-sample values. Selection of half-samples Simplified version Consider first an idealized situation, where each stratum of our sample contains only two units. Then each half-sample will contain exactly one of these, so that the half-samples share the stratification of the full sample. If there are ''s'' strata, we would ideally take all 2''s'' ways of choosing the half-stratum; but if ''s'' is large, this may be infeasible. If fewer half-samples must be taken, they are selected so as to be "balanced" (hence the name of the technique). Let ''H'' be a Hadamard matrix of size ''s'', an ...

Brazilian Cruzeiro Real
The cruzeiro real (\mathrm\!\!\!\Vert, plural: ''cruzeiros reais'') was the short-lived currency of Brazil between August 1, 1993, and June 30, 1994. It was subdivided in 100 centavos; however, this unit was used only for accounting purposes, and the coins and banknotes still valid for cruzeiro between 10 and 500 cruzeiros were used for the purpose of corresponding to the cents of that coin, especially when the redenomination was carried out. The currency had the ISO 4217 code ''BRR''. This redenomination, at the beginning of the second half of 1993, was made with the objective of facilitating the accounting of day-to-day activities, which in the previous unit implied the placement of several zeros that made it difficult to record values in calculators and machines. that issued tax coupons in an automated way at that time, with the objective that such relatively fragile systems would not present problems in the accounting of such values, especially in the rampant inflation i ...

The Registry will be initially funded by $34.5 million from Google but it will be an independent, not-for-profit organization that collects and disburses revenue from third party users of content (e.g. Google Book Search) to authors, publishers and other rightsholders. According to the Settlement Agreement, the Registry will own and maintain a rights information database for all books (and parts of books) covered by the Agreement and their authors and publishers. It will also resolve disputes between rightsholders. Michael Healy, the current head (as of September 2009) of the Book Industry Study Group, is slated to become the new head of the Registry. This almost always allows the Twin Otters that serve the airport to land into the wind. At high tide these runways are under the sea; flight times vary with the tide. Emergency flights occasionally operate at night from the airport, with ve ...
