BR-290
The BR-290 (officially Osvaldo Aranha Highway) is an important highway in the Rio Grande do Sul state of Brazil. Approximately 726km long, the highway runs from the port city of Osório westward to the city of Uruguaiana, on the border of Argentina. Duplication The Freeway, a 96.6 km stretch that connects Porto Alegre to Osório, was inaugurated on the morning of September 26, 1973, as an alternative to RS-030 for the coast, now known as Estrada Velha. The nickname was given in reference to California expressways. It was the first Brazilian highway, with a limit of 120 km/h at the time of the opening of its double lanes, separated by a wide central construction site. Subsequently, the Federal Government lowered the Freeway's speed limit to 80 km/h, due to the oil crisis in the 1970s, to save fuel. Today, the limit is 110 km/h. Alegrete
Alegrete is a municipality in Rio Grande do Sul located in southern Brazil. Its medium altitude is . Its estimated population in 2020 was 73,028 inhabitants and the total area is (the largest municipality of the State and of Southern Brazil). Its inhabitants are called ''Alegretenses''. Alegrete was settled in 1816 and became a municipality in 1857. Osório, Rio Grande Do Sul
Osório is a coastal municipality and a town in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Its population is about 46,000 inhabitants. Osório is located 90 km east of the state capital, Porto Alegre. The municipality was created in 1857 by fission from Santo Antonio da Patrulha and named Conceição do Arroio. It was renamed in 1934 by decree to honor Manuel Luís Osório, 19th century military commander and politician who was born there. Uruguaiana
Uruguaiana is a municipality in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. It is located on the eastern shore of the Uruguay River bordering Argentina. Opposite to Uruguaiana, and joined to it by a road/railway bridge, lies the Argentine city of Paso de los Libres, Corrientes.
