BBC Radio 1 Relax
BBC Radio 1 Relax is a British online-only radio stream, owned and operated by the BBC and run as a spin-off from Radio 1. The station plays a selection of relaxation and well-being focussed shows, and broadcasts exclusively on BBC Sounds. History and launch In September 2020, the BBC announced that a new "stream" named BBC Radio 1 Dance would launch on BBC Sounds on 9 October 2020, with a 4-hour simulcast on Radio 1 and Radio 1 Dance. As part of the BBC's Annual Plan 2021/22 released in March 2021, the corporation announced plans to launch "a new stream of content to help young audiences, in particular, to manage stress and wellbeing through music and speech content". BBC Sounds is a Closed platform, walled garden streaming media and audio download service from the BBC that includes live radio broadcasts, audio on demand, and podcasts. The service is available on a wide range of devices, including mobile phones and tablets, personal computers, cars, and smart televisions. Nicholas Peter Andrew Grimshaw (born 14 August 1984), also known as Grimmy, is an English television and former radio presenter, podcaster and author. He became known for having hosted a variety of shows on BBC Radio 1. He is also known as a television presenter for his Channel 4 roles in T4 and ''The Album Chart Show''. In 2015, he was a judge on the twelfth series of ''The X Factor''. Early life Grimshaw was born in the Oldham, Greater Manchester and grew up there. Sian Eleri is a Welsh radio presenter. She is best known for presenting her shows on BBC Radio 1 and Radio Cymru. Early life Sian Eleri is from Caernarfon. She studied journalism at the University of Leeds. Career Prior to joining Radio 1, Eleri presented on BBC Radio Cymru. Eleri covered Phil Taggart's Chillest Show on BBC Radio 1 during Christmas 2019. Annie Mac (born 18 July 1978), is an Irish DJ, broadcaster and writer. She hosted a variety of shows on BBC Radio 1, including BBC Switch and ''Future Sounds''.
