''BBC Reporting Scotland'' is the BBC's national television news programme for Scotland, broadcast on BBC One Scotland from the headquarters of BBC Scotland at Pacific Quay in Glasgow. History Although BBC Television was established in Scotland since February 1952 - and broadcast some opt-out programming - it did not start its daily Scottish television news service until Friday 30 August 1957, initially consisting of a five-minute bulletin at 6.05pm on weekdays and a sports results programme on Saturdays. The BBC was keen to launch the ''Scottish News Summary'' ahead of its new commercial rival in the central belt, Scottish Television (STV) and before the launch of similar bulletins elsewhere in the UK. Laura Miller (journalist)
Laura Miller is a Scottish Broadcast journalism, broadcast journalist and television presenter, who has presented the Monday to Wednesday night edition of BBC Scotland's ''Reporting Scotland'' since 2019. She has also presented The Nine (BBC Scotland), ''The Nine'' on Friday nights since early 2019. Miller previously worked for STV (TV channel), STV News, presenting the East Central Scotland edition of ''STV News, STV News at Six.'' Heather Reid
Heather Margaret Murray Reid (born c. 1969), also known as "Heather the Weather", is a Scottish meteorologist, physicist, science communicator and educator. Archie Macpherson
Archibald "Archie" Macpherson (born 1937) is a Scottish football commentator and author. He has been commentating on Scottish football, via both radio and television, for over four decades. Early life Macpherson was born and raised in the Shettleston area of Glasgow. His father had played as a centre forward for Shettleston, Dalry Thistle and Largs Thistle. Broadcasting career Macpherson has worked for the BBC, STV, Eurosport, Setanta Sports, Radio Clyde and Talksport although he initially struggled to gain a foothold in broadcasting. Indeed, his first job was as a teacher where he supplemented his income by getting short stories published in local newspapers. Jacqueline Bird (née Macpherson, born 31 July 1962) is a Scottish journalist and broadcaster, best known as a former anchor of the BBC Scotland national news programme ''Reporting Scotland''. Eddie Mair
Eddie Mair (born 12 November 1965) is a Scottish broadcaster who was a presenter on BBC radio and television. He presented his show on LBC between 4pm and 6pm every weekday until his last one, on 18 August 2022, after which he retired from broadcasting. He also hosted BBC Radio 4's daily news magazine '' PM'', the Radio 4 Saturday ''iPM'', and ''NewsPod''. He occasionally presented ''Newsnight'' and ''Any Questions''. Alan Douglas (born 16 October 1951, in Dundee) is a journalist and broadcaster. Douglas was a reporter and then studio presenter on BBC Scotland's evening news programme ''Reporting Scotland'' from 1978 to 1996. Alan Douglas left ''Reporting Scotland'' in 1996 having already teamed up with his wife Viv Lumsden to co-present Scottish Television's BAFTA-winning style programme, The Home Show for six years. Vivien Dale Victoria Lumsden (born 22 November 1952 in Edinburgh) was a newsreader on the Scottish TV (STV Central) news programme, ''Scotland Today'' for nine years. Before Scottish TV, she worked on BBC Scotland's ''Reporting Scotland'' from 1984 to 1989. She co-presented ''The Home Show'' on STV with her husband Alan Douglas for six years and won a BAFTA for the Best Special Interest Programme in 1997. She started her career at Radio Clyde, before working as an AA traffic reporter, and then joining the BBC as a ''Breakfast Time'' newsreader. Sixty Minutes (UK TV Programme)
''Sixty Minutes'' is a news and current affairs programme which ran each weekday at 5:40 pm from 24 October 1983 to 27 July 1984 on BBC1. It replaced '' Nationwide'', and integrated the BBC's main regional news magazines into a single programme, as per its predecessor. However, the BBC's News department stoutly maintained its independence from their colleagues in Current Affairs, and the first 15 minutes of news was almost a separate entity, followed by around 20 minutes of regional news before the final 25 minutes of national current affairs. Accordingly, the format was unwieldy, with neither the conciseness of a bulletin nor the soft approach of the show's predecessor, ''Nationwide''. } ''Nationwide'' was a BBC current affairs television programme which ran from 9 September 1969 until 5 August 1983. Originally broadcast on BBC 1 from Tuesday to Thursday, and then each weekday from 1972, it followed the early evening news, and included the regional opt-out news programmes. Outline It followed a magazine format, combining regional news, political analysis and discussion with consumer affairs, light entertainment and sports reporting. Renton Laidlaw
Henry Renton Laidlaw (6 July 1939 – 12 October 2021) was a British golf broadcaster and journalist. Biography Laidlaw was born in Morningside, Edinburgh in July 1939. He started working as a copytaker, compiling sports results. Laidlaw then moved to the Edinburgh Evening News, working for five years as a junior reporter, before becoming a golf writer in 1962. He then moved into television and radio, becoming one of the best recognised commentators in the sport. He also presented '' Sport on 2'' and '' Sports Report'' between 1985 and 1987.
