BBC Multimedia was a division of the BBC which dealt with the publishing of computer-game versions of well-known BBC television programmes. History The Multimedia division was founded in 1995 and mostly focused on CD-ROM software for Microsoft Windows and Macintosh. The company attended E3 2002 by announcing their first title for the Xbox - '' Robot Wars: Extreme Destruction'', set for a November 2002 release, as well as a game adaptation of the CBBC series ''Ace Lightning'' for the PlayStation 2, with both titles also seeing Microsoft Windows and Game Boy Advance releases. Other CD-ROM titles announced this time were ''Bob the Builder: Bob Builds a Park'', set for a July 2002 release and ''Tweenies: Messy Time'', set for an October 2002 release. Broadcasting House
Broadcasting House is the headquarters of the BBC, in Portland Place and Langham Place, London. The first radio broadcast from the building was made on 15 March 1932, and the building was officially opened two months later, on 15 May. The main building is in Art Deco style, with a facing of Portland stone over a steel frame. It is a Grade II* listed building and includes the BBC Radio Theatre, where music and speech programmes are recorded in front of a studio audience. As part of a major consolidation of the BBC's property portfolio in London, Broadcasting House has been extensively renovated and extended. This involved the demolition of post-war extensions on the eastern side of the building, replaced by a new wing completed in 2005. The Xbox is a home video game console and the first installment in the Xbox series of video game consoles manufactured by Microsoft. It was released as Microsoft's first foray into the gaming console market on November 15, 2001, in North America, followed by Australia, Europe and Japan in 2002. It is classified as a sixth-generation console, competing with Sony's PlayStation 2 and Nintendo's GameCube. ''FightBox'' is a game show that aired on BBC Three from 13 October to 10 November 2003 and is hosted by Lisa Snowdon and Trevor Nelson with Paul Dickenson as commentator. Format Contestants design their fighters and submit them to the BBC. Out of hundreds of submissions, only sixty were chosen to appear on the programme. As well as battling each other, the fighters would face one of six "Sentients", warriors who had won previous (unseen) tournaments and achieved this honour. The Sentients were Banshi, Big George, Kodiak, Nail, Pearl and Vesuvius. Although immortal, they did have certain weaknesses which a fighter could use against them.
