B.A.S.S.
The Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.) is a fishing membership organization with more than a half a million members. It is geared toward bass fishermen, mainly in the United States but with members located worldwide. The society publishes ''Bassmaster'' magazine and other related publications, and also produces ''The Bassmasters'' weekly television program. B.A.S.S. is best known for the sport fishing tournament trails it sponsors, and for the championship event of its primary series, the Bassmaster Classic. The society's logo is a blue shield with a leaping largemouth bass and the society's acronym, as seen in the image on the right. History In 1967, Ray Scott of Montgomery, Alabama launched the concept of competitive bass fishing by forming the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society. Mark Davis (fisherman)
Mark Davis (born October 11, 1963) is a professional sport fisherman of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.) and is one of only two anglers to have won the B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year and the Bassmasters Classic tournament in the same year. Biography Davis was born in Mount Ida, Arkansas. Michael Iaconelli, also known as Mike and by his nickname "Ike", (born June 17, 1972 in Runnemede, New Jersey) is a professional bass fisherman, television personality, and podcast show host from Pittsgrove Township, New Jersey. Iaconelli competes on Major League Fishing. As of February 11, 2019, Mike's career tournament winnings with B.A.S.S. were $2,500,205, which includes 7 wins. Rick Clunn
Rick Clunn (born July 24, 1946) is a professional bass fisherman. Biography Clunn has won the Bassmaster Classic tournament four times, in 1976, 1977, 1984, and 1990, tying him with Kevin Van Dam for the most Bassmaster Classic wins. Clunn is considered one of the best anglers of all time, having placed in the top 10 in over 100 tournaments, and winning seventeen of those. In 1988, he was voted Angler of the Year by the B.A.S.S. organization. In 2001, he was inducted into the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame. On February 12, 2019, Clunn beat his own record as the oldest angler to win a Bassmaster Elite Series event at 72 years old. Hank Parker
Hank Parker is a well-known professional bass fisherman in the United States. In 1979, and 1989, the native of Maiden, North Carolina won two Bassmaster Classic tournaments, the biggest event in his sport. He is one of only four anglers to win the event more than once. Additionally, he was the first angler to win the Grand Slam of competitive bass fishing which includes the Classic, B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year in 1983, and B.A.S.S. SuperBass Tournament in April 1985. Hank finished in the money in 76% of B.A.S.S. tournaments he fished. Kevin VanDam
Kevin VanDam (born October 14, 1967), often called simply "KVD," is a professional bass fisherman from Otsego, Michigan. He is the all-time money winner in professional bass fishing, having earned $7,089,388 through August 2022 according to Major League Fishing. He has captured four Bassmaster Classic titles (2001, 2005, 2010, 2011), seven Toyota Tundra Angler of Year titles (1992, ‘96, ‘99, ‘08, ‘09, '10, '11) and was also the FLW Angler of the Year in 2001. Bill Dance (television Host)
Bill Dance (born William George Dance, Jr.; October 7, 1940) is an angler and host of '' Bill Dance Outdoors'', a fishing television series on the Outdoor Channel, and ''Bill Dance Saltwater'' on the Sportsman Channel. Biography Raised in Lynchburg, Tennessee, Dance considered becoming a doctor, but changed his mind after happening upon a grisly motorcycle accident in the early 1960s. He then turned his focus to competing in bass tournaments. A fishing lure manufacturer that sponsored him suggested he should start a TV show to promote the product. Roland Martin (born March 14, 1940) is a professional sport fisherman. Martin is host of ''Fishing with Roland Martin'' on the NBCSN television channel. Fishing in 291 tournaments, Martin's BASSMASTER career includes the following achievements – 19 tournaments won, 9 B.A.S.S. Larry Nixon (born September 3, 1950) is a professional fisherman from Bee Branch, Arkansas. Career He has competed in more than 260 bass fishing tournaments since 1977; still competing in bass fishing tournaments to this very day. Don Logan (born 1944) is an American media executive from Hartselle, Alabama who lives in Birmingham. A retired Time Warner media chairman, Logan also owns the Birmingham Barons minor-league baseball team. In May 2011, he was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. Ray Scott (angler)
Ray Scott (1933 – May 8, 2022) was an American outdoorsman who founded the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.) in 1967 after a vision of "building the sport of bass fishing to its rightful place in the first rank of American sports." As the "godfather" of modern bass fishing, he created the first national bass tournament trail (the Bassmaster Tournament Trail), ''Bassmaster Magazine'', ''The Bassmasters'' television show and the BASS Federation. Bassmaster Classic
The Bassmaster Classic (known as the Academy Sports + Outdoors Bassmaster Classic for sponsorship) is a tournament in the sport of professional bass fishing. It was first held in 1971 on Lake Mead, Nevada. Originally it was a fall event, (1971-1983) but it switched to a summer event in 1984 and then to a late winter event in 2006. The event has turned into a three-day spectacle, complete with a theatrical presentation of the weigh-ins and hours of television coverage on FS1 and FOX.
