Awolnation (stylized in all caps) is an American rock band from Los Angeles, formed and fronted by Aaron Bruno, formerly of Under the Influence of Giants, Home Town Hero, and Insurgence. The band is signed to Better Noise Music, formerly being signed to Red Bull Records, and their first EP, '' Back from Earth'', was released on iTunes on May 18, 2010. They released their first studio album, '' Megalithic Symphony'', on March 15, 2011; it featured their most notable hit, "Sail", which peaked at number 17 on the '' Billboard'' Hot 100, number 4 on the ''Billboard'' Rock Songs chart, and number 5 on the ''Billboard'' Alternative Songs chart. "Sail" is a song by the American rock band Awolnation. It was released as a single on November 8, 2010. The song was first featured on the band's debut extended play, '' Back from Earth'' (2010), and was later featured on their debut album, '' Megalithic Symphony'' (2011). The song was written and produced in Venice, California by group member Aaron Bruno, with Kenny Carkeet as audio engineer. "Sail" is the band's most commercially successful song to date. It debuted at number 89 on the United States ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart in September 2011, spending 20 weeks on the chart before dropping out. The album is the band's first full-length release, following the release of the extended play '' Back From Earth'' (2010). ''Megalithic Symphony'' has since peaked at number 84 on the United States ''Billboard'' 200 and at number 57 on the Austrian Albums Chart. ''Here Come the Runts'' is the third studio album by American rock band Awolnation, released on February 2, 2018, through Red Bull Records. It is their first album to be released since '' Run'' was released in 2015. The name of it was inspired from "scenes from Bruno's own home in Malibu, where his wife fosters puppies." Bruno explained the meaning of the album in depth in an interview: "We always are drawn to the runt of the litter in a lot of ways. They have to scrap a little bit more. They're overlooked in many cases, and they shouldn't be. ''Angel Miners & the Lightning Riders'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band Awolnation, and their first release since ''Here Come the Runts'' in 2018. It is also their first release under Better Noise Music. It was released on April 24, 2020. Background While on tour with Twenty One Pilots in Fall of 2018, singer Aaron Bruno's home studio and much of his property were destroyed in the 2018 Woolsey Fire. This event, as well as a shooting in nearby Thousand Oaks that claimed the life of 12 people, inspired the lyrical content behind this album. On November 4, 2019, Awolnation released the first single from the album, "The Best", along with a music video for it. ''Run'' is the second studio album by American rock band Awolnation. It was released on March 17, 2015, through Red Bull Records. It was the band's first studio album in four years, following up '' Megalithic Symphony'' (2011). Work on the album was primarily done by band front man Aaron Bruno. He played the majority of instruments on the album and served as the sole producer and songwriter. Throughout 2013 and 2014, Bruno recorded the album between Dragonfly Creek Recording in Malibu, California and Red Bull Studios in Los Angeles. The album was first announced on January 25, 2015. Aaron Richard Bruno (born November 11, 1978) is an American singer, songwriter, and musician, who is best known as the founder, lead singer and last remaining original member of Awolnation. He is a former member of the post-grunge band Home Town Hero, the indie rock band Under the Influence of Giants, and Insurgence. Early life and education Bruno was born and raised in Westlake Village, a city just north of Los Angeles. He started playing guitar before he was 10 years old. He was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder in high school. During high school Bruno was nicknamed "AWOL" for leaving parties early and used this nickname in rap battles. Isaac Carpenter (born August 29, 1979) is an American musician, producer, and audio engineer. He is best known as the former drummer for the alternative rock group Gosling as well as its previous incarnation Loudermilk. Currently, Carpenter is the drummer for Awolnation. He previously played with Duff McKagan's Loaded as well as Adam Lambert's live band and he has performed and/or recorded with The Exies, Ours, Seaspin, Black Lab, Marion Raven, Tyga and Unified Theory among others. Home Town Hero
Home Town Hero was an American rock band from Southern California active in the early 2000s. Founding members Aaron Bruno and Drew Stewart began playing together while attending Westlake High School, where their early project was known as the Ice Monkeys. They were greatly influenced by the success of Southern California punk bands of the early 1990s and the grunge aesthetic popularized by bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam. With the later addition of bassist Todd Burns and drummer Ray Blanco the band re-christened themselves as Insurgence. As Insurgence they began playing famous California venues, including The Roxy Theatre and Whisky a Go Go. When the band began work on their demo EP they again changed their name, this time to Home Town Hero.
