Avadi taluk is a taluk, or township, of Tiruvallur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The administrative center of the township is Avadi, a neighbourhood of Chennai. Taluk
A tehsil (, also known as tahsil, taluka, or taluk) is a local unit of administrative division in some countries of South Asia. It is a subdistrict of the area within a district including the designated populated place that serves as its administrative centre, with possible additional towns, and usually a number of villages. Avadi
Avadi () is a suburb of Chennai within Chennai Metropolitan Area limit, located in the Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu, India. It is a municipal corporation west of Chennai, about from Chennai Central Railway Station. It is surrounded by major defence establishments and is home to various universities and engineering colleges. The city is served by Avadi Railway Station of the Chennai Suburban Railway. As of 2011, Avadi had a population of 345,996, which is 10th most populous place in Tamil Nadu. The Greater Chennai Metropolitan Area, or simply the Chennai Metropolitan Area (CMA), is the third-most populous metropolitan area in India, the 22nd-most in Asia, and the 40th-most in the world. Pattabiram (), which is pronounced as 'Pattaabhiraam', is a locality in Avadi and neighbourhood situated on the western part of Chennai (formerly known as Madras), Tamil Nadu, in India. The suburb, which falls under Avadi Municipal Corporation, is about 25 km from the Chennai Central railway station.
