Aurèle Vandendriessche
Aurèle Vandendriessche (born 4 July 1932) is a retired Belgian marathon runner, who won silver medals at the 1962 and 1966 European Championships. He competed at the 1956, 1960 and 1964 Olympics with the best result of seventh place in 1964. Twice winner of the Boston Marathon (1963 and 1964), he recorded his best time there, 2:17:44 in 1965, while finishing fourth. Anzegem
Anzegem () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Anzegem proper, Gijzelbrechtegem, Ingooigem, Kaster, Tiegem and Vichte. On 1 January 2006 Anzegem had a total population of 14,609. The total area is 41.79 km² which gives a population density of 349 inhabitants per km². One of the most famous inhabitants of Anzegem was Stijn Streuvels, the Flemish writer who died in Ingooigem in 1969, aged 98. On the night of 16 October 2014, Anzegem's medieval parish church of Saint John the Baptist (''Sint Jan de Doperkerk'' in Dutch) was destroyed in a fire. The Košice Peace Marathon (Slovak: Medzinárodný maratón mieru) is an annual road marathon held in Košice, Slovakia, since 1924. It is the oldest marathon in Europe and the third-oldest in the world (after the Boston Marathon, first held in 1897, and the Yonkers Marathon, first held in 1907). The Enschede Marathon is an annual marathon race held in the city of Enschede, Netherlands. The race is the distance of a typical marathon (42 km, 195 metres). It has been held annually since 1991, after being bi-annual for the previous 44 years. The race crosses the German border through the city of Gronau. There has been a women's competition since 1981. Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge is the current course record holder with his winning time of 2:04:30 hours from 2021.
