Louis-Mathias Auger
Louis-Mathias Auger (April 3, 1902 – March 6, 1966) was an Ontario teacher and political figure. He represented Prescott in the House of Commons of Canada as a Liberal member from 1926 to 1929. He was born in Contrecoeur, Quebec in 1902, the son of Louis Auger, and moved to Hawkesbury, Ontario with his family in 1912. Auger had studied at the University of Ottawa and went on to teach there. He defeated Gustave Évanturel to win a seat in the House of Commons in 1926. During his term in office, he was articling with a lawyer in L'Original and studying law part-time at Osgoode Hall. He resigned his seat in 1929 after being accused of raping a young woman from his constituency who had come to see him in the House of Commons about possible employment in the public service. Daniel D'Auger De Subercase
Daniel d'Auger de Subercase (February 12, 1661 – November 20, 1732) was a naval officer and the French governor of Newfoundland and later Acadia. Subercase was baptised a Protestant to Jean Daughter, a rich merchant and bourgeois who had purchased several noble estates, including the lay abbey of Subercase, near Asson. He served about 10 years in the land forces and in 1684 was a captain in the Régiment de Bretagne before he joined the navy and sailed for Quebec. No sooner had he landed in 1687 than he set off with his contingent on a campaign against the Senecas. In 1693 he was named lieutenant-commander, garrison adjutant and adjutant general. He was a crime reporter with ''Le Journal de Montréal'', and he spent 42 years in journalism, starting out as a freelancer before becoming well known for covering organized crime, including years of strife between rival motorcycle gangs in the province of Quebec.
