Atlas Games is a company which publishes role-playing games, board games and card games. Its founder and current president is John Nephew. History When Atlas Games did not have the finances to publish '' On the Edge'' (1994), they partnered with Jerry Corrick and Bob Brynildson and formed a new corporation called Trident, Inc. to publish the game. Eventually Atlas subsumed into Trident; Brynildson, Corrick, and their store - The Source Comics & Games - continued to support Atlas with their business experience and perspective. The company published the periodical '' EdgeWork'' for four issues. A role-playing game (sometimes spelled roleplaying game, RPG) is a game in which players assume the roles of player character, characters in a fictional Setting (narrative), setting. Players take responsibility for acting out these roles within a narrative, either through literal acting or through a process of structured decision-making regarding character development. Ted Alspach is an American game designer and CEO of Bezier Games, Inc. He is best known as the designer of ''Castles of Mad King Ludwig'', ''Suburbia'', ''One Night Ultimate Werewolf'', '' Ultimate Werewolf'', and '' Werewords''. Alspach is also one of the world's leading experts on ''Adobe Illustrator''. He served as its Group Product Manager for several releases and published 18 books on it over the course of 20 years. ''Once Upon a Time'' is a card game produced by Atlas Games, originally released in 1994 with a second edition published in December 1995 and the current third edition in October 2012. One object of ''Once Upon a Time'' is to tell a fairy tale as a group. While the story is developed by the whole group, the competitive aspect of the game is that each player has an individual goal of using all of the "Storytelling" cards they have in hand, and finishing the story with their own special "Happy Ever After" card. ''Cthulhu 500'' is a motor racing-themed card game designed by Jeff Tidball based on H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. The game was released by Atlas Games at Gen Con 2004. Object of the game Players compete by racing Cthulhoid vehicles (such as the Sports Cthutility Vehicle or the Car of Cthulhu) and take turns either upgrading the vehicle or pit crew, or attempting to overtake the car in front. ''Lunch Money'' is an elimination-style card game designed by C.E. Wiedman and released in May 1996 by Atlas Games. The game consisted of 110 cards and was sold as a complete box set.''. Gameplay The art on the cards consists of dark, somewhat Gothic photographic images of a small girl (photos by Andrew Yates), usually accompanied by humorous quotes pertaining to the card's name. In the game, players control a character with fifteen "health" points, and draw a hand of five cards. The players take turns playing cards to "attack" other players, who try to block, dodge, and counterattack the attacker. When the defender is done responding, he or she takes any applicable damage, and both players then redraw their hands to five cards, passing the turn to the next player.
