A heptathlon is a track and field combined events contest made up of seven events. The name derives from the Greek επτά (hepta, meaning "seven") and ἄθλος (áthlos, or ἄθλον, áthlon, meaning "competition"). A competitor in a heptathlon is referred to as a heptathlete. There are two heptathlons – the men's and the women's heptathlon – composed of different events. The men's heptathlon is older and is held indoors, while the women's is held outdoors and was introduced in the 1980s, first appearing in the Olympics in 1984. Women's heptathlon Women's heptathlon is the combined event for women contested in the athletics programme of the Olympics and at the World Athletics Championships. Uhunoma Naomi-Pauline Osazuwa (born November 23, 1987, in Oakland, California) is a Nigerian track and field athlete competing in the heptathlon. She represented Nigeria at the 2012 Summer Olympics but failed to finish the competition after recording marks in five events. She qualified for 2016 Rio Olympics in the heptathlon, finishing in 29th place. She received her doctor of pharmacy degree in 2014 from the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. Odile Ahouanwanou
Odile Ahouanwanou (born 5 January 1991) is a Beninese heptathlete, who also specialises in the 100 metres hurdles; she holds Beninese records in both events. She competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics, 2015 African Games and two African Championships in Athletics, and won a silver medal in the heptathlon at the 2015 African Games. Competition Ahouanwanou debuted internationally at the 2012 African Championships in Athletics in Porto-Novo, Benin. She competed in the heptathlon and finished sixth overall with a points score of 4983, 941 points behind the gold medalist. Ahouanwanou's best result in an individual discipline was fourth in both the javelin and shot put. At the 2012 Summer Olympics she competed in the 100 metres hurdles.
